WelcomeWe are very glad to have you worshiping our gracious God with us today.

Flowers The sanctuary flowers are given this Resurrection Day to the glory of God

in celebration and praise of our risen Savior, Jesus Christ!

As stewards of God’s resources, we try not to print an excess of bulletins. We invite you to bring this bulletin with you when you return for the evening service.

To Our Guests,We especially welcome you today! More information about our church is available on our website at firstpresaugusta.org. You can also visit our welcome desk in the Welcome Center, located directly behind the sanctuary.

Spiritual CareIf you would like to speak to someone about what it means to know Jesus Christ or you have any spiritual need or question, please use one of the prayer cards in the pew rack to contact one of our pastors. Our church elders are also available to speak with you. An elder and his wife will be standing next to the pastor following the service to talk or pray with you.

Children’s Check-inWe are committed to the highest level of protection possible for the children placed in our care on Sundays and at all church events. For this reason, we require parents to check in their children before they go to the nursery. Kiosks are available in the Children’s Lobby. The process is quick and easy, and volunteers are available to assist you.

Nursery Nurseries are provided for infants and toddlers during the worship service. We provide a Mother/Infant Room (room 160) located in the Ebenezer Building behind the sanctuary, and the Geneva Room is designated as a cry room for parents with fussy children. Both rooms are equipped with live video feed of the worship services. Ushers are available to direct you.

Children’s WorshipChildren in pre-k and older will remain in the service with their parents, a special bulletin is available for them.

Additional Seating Please see ushers for additional overflow seating.

The Morning Services

The Meditation—Glorious Risen Christ .....................................................Burke, Larson

Preaching Christ—Proved by the Resurrection

The Prelude

*Welcome and Announcements ................................................................Rev. John Franks

†The Call to Worship ....................................................................from Revelation 1:18Alleluia! Christ is risen!

He is risen indeed! Alleluia!

Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One;

I was dead, and behold I am alive forever and ever!

Alleluia! Christ is risen!

He is risen indeed. Alleluia!

Before the sun has arisen Mary mourned for the Lord alone,But the darkened tomb was an empty room; the Son of God was gone!

Glorious, risen Christ! Alive and robed in majesty!Yet the scars of the cross show the infinite cost,The miraculous gift of Christ’s love for us.

Mary heard his voice in the garden quietly calling her name. She could not believe, nor her mind conceive that Jesus was alive.

She reached for the hem of his garment, silent, astonished, she gazed; His feet were torn that Easter morn. She bowed before her Lord, amazed!

†The Confession of Faith ............................................................... The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell.* The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic** church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

†The Pastoral Prayer and The Lord’s PrayerOur Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

The Assurance of Pardoning Grace ..........................................................1 Peter 3:18For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit.

§The Personal Confession of Sin (Please kneel if able to do so)

§The Corporate Confession of SinO Lord, I marvel that you purposed to become flesh so that you might be crucified, dead, and buried for me. The tomb calls forth my adoring wonder, for it is empty and you are risen! Grant me to die with you that I may rise to new life, for I wish to be as dead and buried to sin, to selfishness, to the world; that I might not hear the voice of the charmer, and might be delivered from his lusts. Purge me from selfishness, pride, the fear of man and the desire to be popular or accepted. Grant me to stand with my dying Savior, to be content, to be rejected, to be willing to hold to unpopular truths. Grant me more and more of the resurrection life. May it rule me, may I walk in its power and be strengthened through its influence. Amen.
