Welcome

Flowers The sanctuary flowers are given today to the glory of God.

To Our Guests,We especially welcome you today! More information about our church is available on our website at firstpresaugusta.org.

Spiritual CareIf you would like to speak to someone about what it means to know Jesus Christ or you have any spiritual need or question, please use one of the prayer cards in the pew rack to contact one of our pastors. Our church elders are also available to speak with you. An Elder and his wife will be standing next to the pastor following the service to talk or pray with you.

Children’s Check-inWe are committed to the highest level of protection possible for the children placed in our care on Sundays and at all church events. For this reason, we require parents of newborns through fifth grade children to check in their children before they go to the nursery, Sunday School, Catechism, Children’s Church or any other children’s activity. Kiosks are available in the Welcome Center. The process is quick and easy, and volunteers are available to assist you.

Children’s WorshipWe offer a specially designed program for children in pre-k through fourth grade during the morning services. Leaders will escort children from the sanctuary to their classrooms before the hymn of preparation. Parents are welcome to accompany them to observe where to pick them up after the service. Parents of children in pre-k through second grade are asked to pick up their children following Sunday School or the 11 a.m. worship service.

Nursery Nurseries are provided for infants and toddlers during the worship services and Sunday School. We provide a Mother/Infant Room (room 109) located in the wing behind the sanctuary and to the left, and the Geneva Room is designated as a Cry Room for parents with fussy children, equipped with live video feed of the worship services. Ushers are available to direct you.

Additional Seating Additional seating for morning and evening worship services is available each week in St. Andrew’s Hall.

As stewards of God’s resources, we try not to print an excess of bulletins. We invite you to bring this bulletin with you when you return for the evening service.

†The Call to Worship ....................................................................... from Isaiah 55:1-6Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; And you who have no money, come, buy and eat!Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread, And your labor on what does not satisfy?Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,And your soul will delight in the richest of fare.Give ear and come to me; hear me, that your soul may live.Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near.

The Lord be with you.And with your spirit.Let us worship God!

There is a Balm in Gilead to make the wounded whole; There is a Balm in Gilead to to heal the sin-sick soul.

Sometimes I feel discouraged and think my work’s in vain,But then the Holy Spirit revives my soul again!

If you can preach like Peter, if you can pray like Paul, Go home and tell your neighbor, “He died to save us all.”

*†Gloria Patri .............................................................................................. Greatorex

We believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.

And we believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of his Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father; by whom all things were made; who for us and for our salvation came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the Virgin Mary, and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate; he suffered and was buried; and the third day he rose again according to the Scriptures, and ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father; and he shall come again, with glory, to judge both the living and the dead, whose kingdom shall have no end.

And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son; who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified; who spoke by the prophets; and we believe in one holy catholic* and apostolic church; we acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins; and we look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

†The Pastoral Prayer and The Lord’s PrayerOur Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

The Assurance of Pardoning Grace .....................................................Micah 7:18-19Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy. You will again have compassion on us; you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea.

O Sovereign God, we acknowledge and confess that we are guilty of pride and unbelief, and neglect to seek you in our daily lives. We have been timid disciples, afraid of putting our lives on the line for the good of your reign on the earth. Forgive our prayerless days, our poverty of love, our sloth in the heavenly race, our wasted hours, and our unspent opportunities. We have sought comfort in possessions, prestige and power. We have tried to save our lives by building our own little kingdoms; yet you call us to find life in laying down our lives for your eternal kingdom. We ask your forgiveness and seek the renewal of our covenant with you. Conform us to the image of our Savior, Jesus, that we may bring you glory. Through Christ we pray, Amen.

*‡The PeaceThe peace of the Lord be with you always.

And also with you.

Turn your eyes upon Jesus!O soul, are you weary and troubled? No light in the darkness you see? There’s light for a look at the Savior, And life more abundant and free!

Turn your eyes upon Jesus, Look full in his wonderful face,And the things of earth will grow strangely dim In the light of his glory and grace.

His Word shall not fail you he promised;Believe him and all will be well; Then go to a world that is dying,His perfect salvation to tell!
