As I write this (what will be this past Tuesday as youread it), the cardinals of the Church are about to enter the

conclave. I suspect that by the time you read this on the weekend,we will have a new pope. Let us pray for him that he may be thevoice of Christ in our Church and to our world. If I'm not here thisweekend, I'll send you a postcard.

If you go to www.ststephen.ws, (found on the front of thebulletin) you will be taken to our new website, which is actually apage on Facebook that I am able to update. Please note that you doNOT have to be a Facebook user to view this site. Its just theplace on the web where we can host our parish online. You willfind there our weekly parish bulletins, pictures & videos of parishevents, and other parish information.

In honor of St. Patricks Day which we celebrate duringLent, heres something that I hope will put a smile on your face

A man named Paddy (short for Patrick) came from Ireland toBoston. In a very short time, he began the practice of going to thelocal bar after work and ordering three beers. He wanted themserved to him all at once. After a few weeks the bartender askedPaddy why he insisted having all three beers served at the sametime. He explained that when he lived in Ireland, he and his two

brothers always got together after work for a beer. He wanted tokeep the spirit of their getting together even though they still livedacross the sea. A few months went by and one day Paddy came inand ordered just two beers. The bartender was concerned andasked if something happened to one of his brothers. Paddy said"No, it's nothing like that. You see it's Lent now and I've given up

    beer for Lent."

Why was Jesus condemned to death?Jesus was a man of peace, but he posed a dilemma: H

offered an unprecedented challenge to the traditional Judaism the time. He forgave sins, which God alone can do; He acted though the Sabbath law was not absolute; and was accused

being a false prophet. All those were crimes punishable under tLaw by death. His death relates to all of us, St. Francis of Asswrote, And even the demons did not crucify Him, but yotogether with them, have crucified Him and are still crucifyiHim by delighting in vices and sins.(From the Youth Catechism of the Catholic Church) (Youcat #9
