KFPS NEWS: No. 17 Wednesday 10th June,
2020
Dear Parents and friends, Well, what a term we have had so far! I am so proud of the way, we as a community, have played our
part in this worldwide pandemic. While it is not over, we are moving into a better space – all due to US
working TOGETHER!
As a parent of 2 kids, I know first-hand how difficult it has been at times but I also want to
acknowledge a few positives of this extraordinary time in history. I have had time with my own kids to
watch them learn, struggle, be challenged and build their resilience.
I have also been forced to learn new things too – and my brain coped and liked it! Many of you are in similar situations and
I want to say THANK YOU!
Teachers I want to say THANK YOU to the teachers – the amazing job that was asked of them
— to flip education on its head, provide a remote learning experience that had never been
done before – and they succeeded. Staff turned up day in and day out to supervise students
onsite, they made phone calls, learnt WebEx , enhanced their knowledge and functions of
Sentral, reassured parents we would be okay, provided more verbal and written feedback than
EVER before. And all this happened while they had their own families to support and care for
too!
Education Support staff I want to say THANK YOU to the Education Support Staff who have supported the students they
work with, as best they could! A massive job when this team works so closely with students.
Admin Team (AKA – the A Team!) Ange and Maree have not missed a beat in all this! The office has worked seamlessly.
They have listened to me, staff and parents. They have supported all of US in this and I cannot thank them enough. They
have coordinated iPads/laptops in and out, taken enrolments, helped families transition into our school, made us laugh
and just kept our school ticking over beautifully.
Students Thanks for doing your best! This will be something you will tell your kids and grandkids about in the future. You
have given things a go, possibly made a few mistakes and most likely, missed your mates! Now that we are all back togeth-
er, there will be a few more challenges to work through as we resume our school routines. Remember to keep washing
your hands!
Parents I wish I could give you all an honorary degree in “Remote Learning and Teaching”. You have done the best job in
supporting your children. Some days probably went better than others and some were no doubt a write off! Don’t worry, I
had them too! It’s in these moments we learn and we manage. You have been stretched like no other generation of parent
before. Technology coming at you from all angles, teachers wanting to chat with you and the kids, and then your own fami-
ly situations. I am very proud of our school and community and how we have all managed, coped, worked, survived and
grown through this period. THANK YOU!
Cleaning: We have our cleaners, Tam and Matt onsite between 11.15- 12:30pm each day on top of our regular cleaning
activities. They are disinfecting the high traffic areas and touch points across our school. We thank them as they are an in-
tegral part of our staff!
Canteen: Our school canteen opened for lunch orders today. We have reduced our canteen menu until the end of Term 2. Rayelene is offering $5 meal deals only – a choice of 3 options each day. Last week students received the meal deal information and envelopes. You need to send the correct money in an envelope as we unfortunately cannot provide change.

Teamwork Being Your Best Responsibility
NB: The new Kangaroo Flat Hoodies are now available for purchase at Lowes Bendigo Lansell Plaza.
Absences: If your child is absent, please phone the school on 54475100 and follow the prompts.
Reports: Semester 1 reports will be different! There will be an overview statement from each specialist area outlining the
content they have tried to cover, an overview and descriptive comment in English and Maths and then a general & per-
sonal capabilities comment from the teacher about term and remote learning experiences. There will NOT be any dots
(progression points) or comparison from last year. Reports will be sent home with your child at the start of Term 3.
Gumnut Neighbourhood – You rock!
Last Friday our Gumnut Neighbourhood enjoyed a fun day of PJs and crazy hair. I have to say that wearing my PJs to school
was particularly comfortable and it made getting ready for bed that evening super easy! It was a lovely way to celebrate
the end of Home Learning and the return to school. Of course our junior students were also having one last celebration
before the big kids arrived back at school yesterday. Lots of fun was had and please check out the photos from the day!
Thought of the week:

Principal
On behalf of the students we would like to welcome everyone back to Term 2 at school. We want you to remember good hygiene – which means keep washing your hands and using the hand sanitisers in the classrooms. We know that teachers were missing us and are very happy to have us back at school. With Thanks, School Captains Lara and Josh
