Process

Recreational activities, such as fishing, are available along the many miles of shoreline found in Milwaukee. While the railing is necessary, it does unfortunately creates a barrier to the water. Our goal was to acknowledge the popularity of the unique urban activity of fishing by designing and building a cantilevered fishing platform that lessened this isolation. The platform allowed the shoreline sportsmen to gain better access by projecting the fisherman over the water. In response to a lack of nearby seating, we offered a permanent seating fixture, which we felt was needed for a long day of casting. Our response adapted to changing the rhythm of the deck boards as the structure intersected the path. The platform was made to look as if it was built as a part of the existing railing system.
