It’s a Web 2.0 World

“Could it be that the dot-com collapse marked some kind of turning point for the web, such that a call to action such as "Web 2.0" might make sense? We agreed that it did, and so the Web 2.0 Conference was born.”

“While the first wave of the Web was closely tied to the browser, the second wave extends applications across the web and enables a new generation of services and business opportunities.”

Tim O’Reilly, 2004

What Web 2.0 companies do you recognize? What are their products?

"iWantToMakeADifference.org" is a non-profit organization that aims to provide shelter, food, and basic education for underprivileged children under the age of 12. It has a Web 1.0 site (informational, not personalized, no community) and is particularly struggling to attract donors on its fundraising site.

The CEO of this non-profit organization has a friend - Mr. Enterprise 2.0 - who has gotten him excited about Web 2.0. So to start with, she changed the name of her company to "WeCanMakeADifference.org". Now that the company has a new name, the CEO is looking to take it to the next level but applying Web 2.0 concepts to the Web channel.

What Web 2.0 strategies and features would you propose?
