This Life

My heart beats gently within me Keeping time with my life’s history My eyes peer into the mists of eternity Revealing a sweet vision of heavenly ecstasy My ears delight to hear a voice of divinity Echoing throughout the whole of my life’s story My thoughts are concerned with ideals, noble and lofty Wrapped up in the contemplation of life’s sacred mystery My body is employed in the service of the Blessed Trinity Determined to embrace, justice, holiness, faith and humility My soul and my spirit awake radiating a deep harmony Driving me forwards, to live this life in peaceful simplicity

Children’s Liturgy of the Word.

Extra Helpers needed to help with this most important ministry in our church. There are often

many children who come out from the 10 00 am Mass to enjoy a Liturgy that reflects them and

keeps their interest. We have dedicated parishioners who support this, but they are always

looking for more people to come forward to help them. You do not need training or have all

the answers of faith, just a love for Christ and an enthusiasm to spread his word! The

Children’s Liturgy is about sowing the seeds of faith for our future generations!

This weekend of 17/18th June has been designated as this year’s ‘Day for Life’. This year’s Day for Life is particularly significant as it is 50 years since the 1967 Abortion Act was passed in England, Scotland and Wales. That anniversary in October will be marked in various ways. This year’s Day for Life provides us with an opportunity to pray for and remember all lives lost before birth and to offer practical and emotional support to women and men who are worried and concerned about an unexpected pregnancy. For those who have had an abortion, this anniversary year is a reminder that 50 years on: “there is no sin that God’s mercy cannot reach and wipe away when it finds a repentant heart seeking to be reconciled with the Father” (Pope Francis, Apostolic Letter, Misericordia et misera, 12).

There will be a mandatory second collection in parishes to support Day for Life. Proceeds of the collection will go to The Anscombe Bioethics Centre and other Church-supported life activities.

The Office for the Day for Life at the Bishops’ Conference has produced material for this year’s Day for Life,

which includes prayers, stories and detailed structure for holding a Vigil or a prayer service as far as this is

possible on or around the weekend of 17/18 June, together with material for the 27th October 2017. These

and other resources are available at: www.dayforlife.org.

Reflections for the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity.

“Dear friends, sometimes we may be tempted to give in to laziness, or worse, to discouragement, especially

when faced with the hardships and trials of life. In these cases, let us not lose heart, let us invoke the Holy

Spirit so that through the gift of fortitude he may lift our hearts and communicate new strength and

enthusiasm to our life and to our following of Jesus.” — Pope Francis

Reflection: How do you call upon the Holy Spirit to guide your life? When have you been tempted to laziness

or discouragement? How did you resist the temptations or recover from falling into them? Have you ever

lost heart in difficult times? Who or what helped you find courage and strength?

Embracing the mystery each day

On Trinity Sunday, rather than try to solve the mystery, let us ask

how open we are to it: the mystery of why God created us to begin

with; the mystery of God loving us, desiring to be part of our lives,

to live in our hearts; to be one with us; the mystery of God inviting

us to share in the life of the Trinity: Father, Son and Spirit; the

mystery of a God who cares for us like a loving parent, who lays

down his life for us like a best friend, who fills our hearts like a lover

who will not be refused. While the Holy Trinity is a mystery that

cannot be proven by Scripture we come into contact, through our

liturgy, with the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit: "The grace of

the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the

Holy Spirit be with all of you." How many times each day do we

make the sign of the cross? It may be in our Morning Offering, at grace before meals, at Mass, or before we

retire for the night. It may be when we pray the Liturgy of the Hours, or recite the Rosary. How often do we

sign ourselves "In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit"? How often do we think about

the deep meaning of these words and this simple, yet profound Trinitarian gesture? Today let us pause and

think of what we are doing when we mark ourselves with the sign of the cross. What does it mean to sign

myself with the Divine love that binds the Godhead as One? God said at creation, "Let us make man in our

image." He spoke of Himself as "Us," implying the Trinitarian nature in which we Catholics believe. God also

said that we humans would image that nature. How does my life reflect the community of love that is the

Godhead? How do I image the Divine nature, which is love itself? Are mercy, grace, and faithfulness part of

my identity? Fr. Thomas Rosica, CSBCEO, Salt and Light Catholic Media Foundation
