Lent 2017 This Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent. On Wednesday ashes will be placed upon our foreheads at Masses, we are called to repent and believe in the gospel. In Lent we enter a period of penance, prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. Each Sunday at 5 pm during Lent there will be a public devotion of the Stations of the Cross to which I would encourage you to come to. During Lent the mood is one of hope, the vestments are purple in colour, symbolising penance, patience, waiting and the hope we have in Christ. There are Walk with me booklets for you to take to help with prayer for Lent.
Works being done in and around church. The cabinets at the back of church have been looked at and there is woodworm in the panels, these will be changed in the next few weeks. The confessional by the side door of the church will be renovated, made a little larger and more people friendly. The church sound system has been booked to be changed on the 7th/8th March, more speakers will be added and new microphones too. For security CCTV will be added to the side of the church and the front of the house. Also a quinquennial (Survey) of the church and the grounds will be taking place in the next month, to help identify potential works to be carried out to maintain the safety of the site.

Jubilee Celebrations This year is the 60th priestly anniversary of Fr Bernard Anwyl, 16th March 1957 and the 25th priestly anniversary of Fr Patrick Brennan, 5th July 1992. We are planning a Mass and a celebration on Friday July 14th, to which you are all most welcome to attend. If you want to help with planning of the Mass and the refreshments after-wards please let Fr Pat know. It is a great joy to celebrate these important mile-stones with you, the diocese, and with our family and friends.
Also there are 5 priests in the deanery who are celebrating jubilees this year and Holy Family will host a Deanery Mass and celebration on Friday 30th June.
