You may be wondering what impact the new Government will have on making changes to the education system and in particular how National Standards will be managed. At this stage we are waiting to hear what the changes will be. I have included a recent statement regarding this issue which explains the Government's current position. “The Ministry of Education is working with the Government on its policy to replace National Standards and Nga Whanaketanga Rumaki Maori with a new system that better acknowledges a child’s progress and focuses more on developing key competencies for all learners. Boards of Trustees, Principals, Teachers and Parents will be kept informed of this change. Boards are asked to note that the National Administration Guidelines relating to their own planning and reporting processes and their reporting to parents, students and the Ministry of Education on National Standards remain in place until officially changed”

As we know more about the impact of any changes that take place I will keep you informed.

WORLD VISION ‘KIDS FOR KIDS’

YEAR 4 CHOIR

Last night the choir performed with 700 children at the Vodafone Events Centre at

Manukau. Over the last six months they have learnt the words to 19 songs and at

yesterday’s rehearsal they learnt actions for all of them. They were amazing! Their

enthusiasm and excitement ‘spilled over’ in this fun concert. Mrs Melville and I were so

proud of all the children. Theo Jackson and Tyleah Po’e Tofaeono performed as part

of the ‘Mod Squad’ for the final item. Congratulations on being fantastic rock ‘n rollers

you two!

A special thankyou to Mrs McIntyre-Robinson and Mrs Melville

for all their hard work with our Year 4 students for this special

event.
