This coffee is grown at Fazenda Klem, located in the Matas de Minas region in the East of Brazil. Fazenda Klem is part of an Atlantic forest, located at heights between 900-1250 meters above sea level. The combination of altitude, mountain climate and rainfall index are the perfect conditions to produce high quality coffee.

The farm is a real family business. Nagipe Viana Klem started working in coffee in the ‘50s. He has been focusing on environmental issues and quality coffee ever since. Nagipes children Ceasar, Márcio, Sérgio and Claudio continue his work from 2010 and on, improving the quality of the coffee even more. They invested in pulpers, dryers and greenhouses with African drying beds and new drying patios. They also made the transition to organic certified coffee. In 2017, Fazenda Klem became 3rd in Brazil’s Cup of Excellence, reaching 91+ points in the contest. Ceasar Klem explains: “We are proud of our origins, our family, our coffee and we always want to bring our coffee to every table”.

The story

The farm doesn’t only grow coffee, but also avocados and bananas to stimulate a lively ecosystem. The family works with great environmental awareness, planting the crops in ecologically correct manner, with respect for native areas and obtaining greater biological control, preserving springs, flora and fauna. Fazenda Klem’s crop starts in June. This is early for Brazil and gives the coffee more time to mature and to absorb sugars. The coffee is packed in videplast bags and are designed to prolong the quality of the coffee. Fazenda Klem works together with 50 partners, all responsible for their own part of the farm. It has high ethical standards when it comes to their relationships with employees and service providers. They follow strict criteria on labor standards and job security. They also provide means for social advancement, integrating them in the community and stimulating education and development of all involved.

One of our most popular coffees and not without a reason. Accessible, organic and typical Brazil: soft and sweet, one that everyone would enjoy.

Green Buyer Belle about Soulmate - “Not a coincidence it’s one of our most selling coffees. Sweet, chocolatey and organic

is something no one will rebuff.”
