HowYouShopWillDetermineHowYouEat!Thekeytoeatingcleanisbuyingwholefoodsandorganicwheneverpossible.(Reviewthedirtydozenfruitsandveggiesifneeded).Incorporatefruitsandveggiesintoyourmealsaswellashealthyproteinslikechicken,fish,legumes,eggsandnuts.Limityourredmeatconsumptiontolessthan1-2servingsaweekorlessifyoucan.Wetrytocutoutdairywheneverpossible,andsubstitutewithalmondmilkorcoconutmilkandusenutcheesesforcooking.Limitrefinedsugarintakeaswell,substitutingwithhoney,maplesyruporsteviasweetener.AccordingtotheAmericanHeartAssociationanadultwomanshouldconsumenomorethan5teaspoonsofsugaraday,basedonan1,800-dailycalorieallowance.(That’sbarelyhalfa12-oz.canofCoke.)

Groceryshoppingcanbeachorewhensearchingthebestpricesforthebestproduce.Somelocationshavebettervarietiesthanothers,but

maybemoreexpensivethantheonestopshop(conveniencesometimesmaywinovercostwhenlifegetssuperbusy.)Sadly,itisarealitythatwholeorganicfoodsdocostmorethanthesuperprocessed,GMOcounterpart.But,knowingweareeatingforourfutureissavingusmoneyinthelongrun.

Buyingfreshmeansfoodspoilsmorequicklythanbuyingaboxoracanoffood,soventuringtothemarketahandfuloftimesaweekisnecessary.Thekeytosmart,efficientandcosteffectiveshoppingisplanningyourmealsinadvance.(Also,makingmealsinadvanceandfreezingthemtoeatonabusyweekdayeveningisgood.)Thiseliminatestheaddonitemsthatdrivethegrocerybillup.Anotherkeytosmartshoppingistoreadlabels!Ifyoucan’tpronouncetheingredient,orarenotsurewhatsomethingis,itprobablyshouldbeleftontheshelf.Thelongertheingredientlist,themoreprocesseditis.
