Teachers of subjects that are taught in Lithuanian are ready to give short instructions in English. It may be that the teacher will have the assistant to help children during those lectures. Successful practice is to assign other student as coordinator, to help to integrate into school life. 3. INTRODUCTION OF SCHOOLS

3.1. Vaikystės sodas

“Vaikystes Sodas” is a chain of preschools located in 4 largest cities in Lithuania – Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipeda,

and Panevezys. Established eight years ago, the company expanded fast and successfully and is now the

biggest chain of innovative preschools emphasizing creativity and emotional intelligence across Lithuania and

the Baltic states.

Dr. Austeja Landsbergiene is the founder and the CEO of the innovative chain of preschools “Vaikystes sodas”.

She has a doctor’s degree in Social Science, an accreditation team member for the Council of International

Schools and Educational consultant to the Lithuanian State. Dr. Austeja Landsbergiene frequently attends

conferences where she gives presentations about the latest development and research on early brain

development studies, early childhood education as well as leadership and professional development.

„Vaikystės Sodas“ unique contextual curriculum focuses on four main strands:

Literacy. „VSVS“ (everyone reads in „Vaikystės Sodas“). Children learn to read and write through play and while

exploring new topics. We also view literacy as an integral part of children‘s education;

Mathematics is also integrated in everyday learning. Mathematics in „Vaikystės Sodas“ is mathemagic because

Emotional intelligence. „Vaikystės Sodas“ has a character building curriculum which is integrated into our

everyday activities. By naming and navigating through their own feelings children build and maintain healthy

relationships with the others;

Soft skills. Soft skills are the personal attributes, personality traits, inherent social cues, and communication

abilities needed for children future success. Soft skills include attitude, communication, creative thinking, work

ethic, teamwork, networking, decision making, positivity, time management, motivation, flexibility, problem-

solving, critical thinking, and conflict resolution. It is included in “Vaikystės Sodas” contextual curriculum.

“Vaikystes Sodas” was rated among the best practices of ISSA (International Step by Step Association)

members. Moreover, it has a membership of the international accredited organizations such as: NAEYC

(National Association for the Education of Young Children); EECERA (European Early Childhood Education

Research Association) of which Dr. Austeja Landsbergiene is an ambassador for Lithuania.

3.2. Eureka School for Early Education

Eureka is the school for early education of 3-5 year-old children where a child and his/her development is the

centre of attention.

Eureka‘s School for Early Education instinctive feature is its bilingual education philosophy which gives little

inquisitives a chance to discover the world in Lithuanian and English languages. The mission of Eureka team is

to lay the foundations for maturity of a Personality. The priority of a Personality development refers to promotion

of socio-emotional intellect by employing modern teaching methods based on integrity, experiential learning and

playing.

In Eureka, the core of education is a child’s welfare, teaching comprehensiveness, active and experiential child’s

participation in the process of education. A child most efficiently develops in the environment where he/she feels

safe, respected, and has his/her personal opinion recognized and needs met. In Eureka School for Early

3.3. Queen Morta School

Queen Morta School was opened in September 2013. The 21st century Queen Morta School educates students

for life. The goal of the school is to empower children to be creative, critically thinking, resilient, speaking their

own mind, empathic, and proud.

The founder and CEO of the innovative Queen Morta School is dr. Austeja Landsbergiene. She has a doctor’s

3.4. Kaunas Jurgis Dobkevičius pro-gymnasium

The Kaunas pro-gymnasium is located in the most beautiful panorama of Aleksotas hill and is distinguished by its original teaching of foreign languages and the philosophy of integrated training. The pro-gymnasium bases its work on the principles of learning organization. It is secure, organized in a modern way and democratically managed. The basic value of the school is students and teachers and their cooperation concentrated on learning and personality growth. Our school is the place for the development of a young personality where individual dreams become future aspirations. The mission of our teachers is to help students accumulate necessary experience and when the time comes to see every student off to the road of self-confidence, honour and endless discoveries. The pro-gymnasium provides qualitative primary and basic education. Students start learning a foreign language (English or French) from the first form. According to tripartite agreement the school implements EMILE and CLIL an integrated program of the French and Germany language and other school subjects (music) from the fifth form. The students have an exceptional opportunity to study the second foreign language from the fifth form. Ministry of Education and Science, the French Embassy and experts of foreign countries positively evaluated the results of EMILE students. Students are admitted to the fifth form according to their academic achievements and results. The programs of the main school subjects are differentiated according to the students’ abilities and learning rate. The number of students in classes is small; therefore teachers have the opportunity to give proper attention to all the pupils. Excellently equipped sporting facilities allow the students and members of the community to cultivate a healthy lifestyle. A stadium, a gym, choreography and aerobics halls are at your disposal. The pro-gymnasium works in an innovative way. A new smart classroom with 30 workstations is being installed for integrated studies according to STEAM model. Robotics, aviamodelling and chess clubs promote the development of logical and engineering thinking. Primary school pupils take part in the healthy lifestyle program. They are provided with free dairy products and fruit. Every year the third formers take part the swimming program in the Kaunas center sport school swimming pool funded by Kaunas city municipality and Swimming Federation.

Students from form 1 to 7 are provided with programs of purposeful arts education. There are 8 dance and vocal groups as well as wide variety of clubs of informal employment. Modern information technologies are integrated in the curriculum. International projects are being implemented. The pro-gymnasium organizes student exchange programs with schools in the Czech Republic, France and Japan every year. After school students are invited to the leisure centre which provides programs of enrichment activities, entertainment, arts and artistic subjects (the centre is open every day until 6 p.m.) The are the Music School, Basketball and Football schools after the main lessons. Picturesque and ecological environment, spacious and constantly modernising school, contemporary competences and all of this is for education of young personalities!

3.5. Erudito licėjus

Erudito licėjus follows the Scandinavian Integrated Education philosophy, focuses on active and team-based learning methods, teachers' competences and professional skills. Our school teachers seek to stimulate the intellectual curiosity of students, the joy of cognition and discovery. The teachers create inspirational conditions and situations that allow students to experience success of learning and performance. The learning day consists of three lessons, 90 minutes each, organised in different learning environments, with enough attention to the topic and the inclusion of students. Exceptional education features of Erudito licėjus are versatility, meaningfulness, and coherence. We organize education as a unified system, without breaking into separate, unrelated teaching subjects. Integrative educational axis is a child. We look at every problem, fact, phenomenon from the students’ position and experience. The perception and thinking of primary school students are inseparable. Therefore, the content of the curriculum must be integral and consistent with the characteristics of certain age groups. Basic extra-curriculum activities do not require continues education. Children can freely choose the activities they want to try. Visual thinking is taught in English, were students can improve their creativity. Also, we offer to study English, French, Spanish and German languages. At least once a week, students change their learning environment. The educational process is transferred to various educational environments such as museums, galleries, art representing spaces, parks, and enterprise visits. Changing the learning environment is very important in education. Erudito licėjus has primary and secondary classes, in 2018 the admission for high school classes has been started.

3.6. Kaunas Jonas Jablonskis Gymnasium

Kaunas Jonas Jablonskis Gymnasium is an educational establishment for students aged 15-19. It is built on the hill in the very center of Kaunas city and boasts long history back from 1931. It is committed to the welfare of each child and the development of each child's full potential. It encourages children to make their full contribution to the gymnasium life.

The gymnasium students demonstrate good examination results; the pupils are equally interested in exact sciences and humanities. Therefore, traditionally the gymnasium students take part in annual international and national competitions, contests, tournaments as follow: the Public Speaking (in English) and Debate (in English), Kaunas City poetry contest "Poetry Spring", the Olympiads of Lithuanian Language, English Language, Information Technology, Chemistry, Philosophy and others. This year we have more than 560 (22 classes).

Presently, the aim of our Gymnasium is to help our students to become creative personalities, capable of critical thinking and adapting to changing life situations, speaking foreign languages. Kaunas Jonas Jablonskis gymnasium is a candidate school for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme and pursuing authorization as an IB World School in 2020.

3.7. Kaunas Jesuit High School

Kaunas Jesuit High School (KJHS) is the oldest still operating school in Kaunas city established in 1649 and re-established in 1993. KJHS is a non-state catholic school, providing secondary education (grades 5-12) which complies with national standards, developing skills and competencies vital to the active members of modern society. Despite that, the school is constantly seeking for even more – not only to provide environment which promotes discovery of intellectual capabilities of young people, but to foster their creativity, spirituality, sense of community and physical activity as well. At the moment, school has 800 students. Besides all regular disciplines such as biology, mathematics, chemistry, physics and others, school also offers possibility to study German, French and Russian languages as well as courses like public debates, robotics, mechatronics and Chinese language, in order to pursue a full development. Since February 2013, KJHS offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IB) to its students. IB aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. Feeling that this mission directly addresses the main objectives of the school, KJHS offers the enrollment possibility for 11th and 12th graders. Understanding the difficulty of change from regular school program to IB standards KJHS also created a unique PRE-IB program for talented 9th and 10th graders. This program was launched last year in order to prepare the students for the upcoming challenges in the later years. The studying process and all of the courses in both programs are organized in English language. Overall this fourth year IB course helps student to discover their strengths, reveal their potential and enjoy high achievements. Most of graduates now study in the best worldwide universities such as Harvard, Oxford and Brown.
