Kaunas is the second largest city in Lithuania.
Kaunas was the provinsional capital from 1920-1939, when Lithuania lost Vilnius following armed conflict with Poland.

The oldest part of Kaunas city is the Old Town located to the east of the confluence of the Nemunas and Neris rivers.
