During the World War Onethe Isonzo Front ran along the emerald Soča River. Nowadays it connects Slovenia and Italy through the Walk of Peace. Tour-ist adventure providers have taken this historical background as a basis for forming new ideas for holidays.

The trip starts with a visit of war-historical Ethnological museum in Clodig (Italy), offering you a broad exhibition of war artefacts from Isonzo battle.
Then you continue to Kolovrat outdoor museum of World War I, representing the third Italian defence line. From here a wonderful panoramic way will take you, with views over Soča valley on one side and Italian region on the other. This was also the path of Rommel did at the time of war. Then you continue to a village Livške Ravne and through forest to Polava (on the Italian side). From here up to the village Jevšček (on the Slovenian side), where you will see the house, where Rommel stayed overnight. Later on the trail will lead you up on Matajur, towards the tourist farm Jelenov breg. Follows a traditional dinner, with home prepared food from the farm, and a walk-around the estate, to see the animals (deers, rabbit, ducks, pony).Next day, after self-service breakfast, you take a way towards the peek of Matajur, the way that also known of Rommel breakthrough. First you go from village Avsa to Mrzli Vrh, where you can visit mountain pasture Idrsko. Local farmers produce there cheese, butter and cottage cheese. Then you set for the top of Matajur and after reaching it, you can also take a look at the nearby church.
You can make this trip walking or by car.
Izlet se začne z ogledom vojno-zgodovinskega Etnološkega muzeja v Clodigu, na italijanski strani, z obsežno zbirko predmetov iz Prve svetovne vojne.Nato sledi vzpon do Kolovrata (Na Gradu), kjer si boste ogledali ostaline
tretje italijanske linije na Soški fronti. Od tu vas pelje čudovita panoramska pot s pogledom na Soško dolino na eni in italijansko pokrajino na drugi strani. To je tudi pot, kjer je hodil sam Erwin Rommel. Od Kolovrata se odpravite naprej do vasi Livške Ravne, nato pa skozi gozd do Polave na italijanski strani. Od tu se povzpnete do vasi Jevšček (na slovenski strani), kjer si ogledate hišo, v kateri naj bi Rommel prespal. Od vasi Jevšček vas pešpot vodi do makedamske ceste, ki pelje na Matajur, kjer si ogledate ostaline prve svetovne vojne. Od tod naprej do vasi Avsa, vse do turistične kmetije Jelenov breg, kjer boste uživali v domači kmečki večerji in ogledu kmetije.Naslednji dan, po okrepčilnem zajtrku, se odpravite po poti avstro-ogrskega preboja vse do Matajurja. Iz vasi Avsa se povzpnete najprej do Mrzlega vrha. Tu si ogledate Idrsko planino, kjer pridelujejo sir, skuto in maslo. Od tod naprej po po poti Rommel-a, ko je osvajal Matajur. Prispeli na vrh, si lahko ogledate tudi tamkajšnjo cerkev.
Na pot se lahko odpravite tudi z avtom.
