Coronavirus Recovery

In the Gospel this weekend, the Lord Jesus Christ makes a claim that no one has ever made in the past or since, a claim that gives us ‘rest’ and assurance, namely that Christ is the perfect revelation of God the Father before all creation and time.

He and the Father are united in an inseparable bond of love and unity. That is why Jesus alone can truly reveal the fullness of God’s mind and heart and grant us a ‘rest in His Presence’ that we all so badly need during these days.

(excerpt from the Archbishop’s letter) “As I have loved you,” said the Lord Jesus, “so you must love each other.” (Jn 13:34) The lockdown has brought forth remarkable acts of charity, of loving kindness, from Catholics across our communities as they have cared for the needy and vulnerable. We have seen love in action through charitable works, and through the service of many front-line keyworkers who are members of our Church. Now we can begin to return to the source of that charity, Christ himself, present for us sacramentally, body, blood, soul and divinity, in Holy Communion. As we prepare to gather again to worship, let us, respectful of each other, come together in thanksgiving to God for the immense gift of the Holy Eucharist.

During the time of receiving Communion: you may wish to say the Act ofSpiritual Communion Prayer:My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen
