Mrs Therese Kelly Long Service Leave Mrs Therese Kelly will be taking three weeks long service leave beginning on Wednesday 1st July and returning to school on Wednesday 5th August. Therese and her family will be travelling several countries in Europe and we hope they have an enjoyable holiday. Mrs Cathy Joyce will be teaching in Grade 2 full time during this period.

Edge Avenue Playground Thank you to all the members of the community who have supported the school with the petition to stop the proposed licence agreement. Mrs Lisa Gibson (Board Chair), Mr Adrian Merkel (Board member) and myself will be meeting the Lord Mayor Sue Hickey, the General Manager Nick Heath next Monday 22nd June. Here we will be presenting our petition to the Mayor. We hope and pray that we have a positive outcome from this meeting.

School Concert – Please save the date This year we will be holding a Concert during Catholic Education Week. All students (Kinder to Grade 6) will be involved in the concert. It will consist of matinee concert (11am) for grandparents and significant other on Wednesday 12th August and an evening concert (6pm) on Thursday 13th August for parents and siblings. This should be a wonderful way for the school to celebrate Catholic Education Week. More information will be distributed to families in the coming weeks. Kindergarten Playground Last Friday, Matt Townsend from Over the Hedge Landscaping completed the Kindergarten playground. The new area looks absolutely fantastic and it has made the playground so much better than we had previously. The Kinder shed should be installed in the next couple of weeks and then the playground will be 100% finished. It has been great to see the children this week gain satisfaction out of playing in the new playground. We thank Mr Adam Martin (TCEO Project Officer) for his role in being project manager, Mrs Shelly Horne, Mrs Fran Heynes and Ms Rosemary O’Rourke for their patience whilst the new area was being completed.

End of Term Awards Assembly Our End of Term Awards Assembly will be held in the Hall at 9am on Wednesday 1st of July. All parents of children who receive an award will be notified prior. All community members are invited to attend.

Music Assembly A reminder that our Music Assembly will be in the Hall on Tuesday 30th June at 1.50pm. At this assembly all students from all classes will perform an aspect of music that they have learned during the Term. Also at this assembly we will officially be farewelling Ms Kate Gray from Immaculate Heart. Mrs Claire Williams will return in Term 3 from maternity leave. We thank Kate for her dedication and thoroughness with the Music program over the past 9 months. We wish her all the best in her upcoming adventures.

Football and Netball Round Robin Students from Grade 5 and 6 will be participating in the annual football and netball competition this year. The season will start next Friday 26th of June with a round robin carnival and then continue with the regular roster on Friday 24th of July. All the boys will be wearing their brand new football jumpers and the girls will be wearing the skorts and tops that the P&F purchased last year. We will be the best looking school on the courts and field.

Reports With two and half weeks to go in the term, all teachers are busy writing and reading students reports. All reports will be sent home on Friday 3rd of July and optional Parent/Teacher Interviews will be early Term 3. A note will be sent home with the reports in regard to this.

Have a great couple of weeks and God bless.

Mr Nick McGann Principal Feast Day Mass

On Thursday 2nd July, the School Community will celebrate Immaculate Heart of Mary Feast Day. All students from Kindergarten to Grade 6 will attend Mass at 10.30am at St Mary’s Cathedral. The students will be bussed to and from the Cathedral. I invite all parents and friends to this special Mass. Novelty games will be held back at school within buddy groups. We ask that all students wear their PE uniform on this day.

Uniform Store Our winter jacket has arrived. The jacket is to be worn over the polar fleece/soft shell jacket for added warmth when outside. They are $75 each. This item is optional. A reminder that the Uniform Store is open on every Monday and Wednesday during term time from 2.30 – 3.30pm. Soccer Report IHMCS Under 9 Soccer Team had its best game for the year in beautiful sunshine against Campbell Street Primary Under 9’s on Saturday 13th June 2015. Jack Bremner had a great game scoring 3 goals and Brodie Gordon was the stand out in defence. The game was an open affair - fast moving, an end to end tussle from start to finish. IHMCS team linked up with sharp passing that was the best we have seen all year. This improvement may have been a result of the training drills Nathan Kingston put the team through when filling in as coach during the week (thanks Nathan). The end score was a 4 all draw which was a fitting result as both teams played well. All the signs are positive for us as we come up against our Big sister school SHC on the weekend. See you at training. Ged McCaffery – Coach
