  • March 8, 2015 - 3rd Sunday of Lent The Fathers House

Exod 20:1-17 God gives the commandments to Mo-ses. Psalm 19 Lord, you have the words of everlasting life. 1 Cor 1:22-25 Paul proclaims Christ, a stumbling block to many. John 2:13-25 Jesus cleanses the temple

Do you have any pet peeves? How about drivers who dont use a turn signal, or who wont turn right on red? How about people who never put coasters under their drippy drinks? Or couples who own a dog together and call themselves mommy and daddy? Whats your list?

For Jesus, desecration of the temple went far be-yond a simple pet peeve. It angered him so much that he decided to take action. He made a whip of cords and drove the vendors from the temple pre-cincts. As the temple of Lent comes into our days again, we may find that we need to cleanse our lives. We may face obstacles that prevent us from living our faith to the fullest. Jesus invites us to take up our own whip of cords and drive these obstacles away. -- Dc. Dick Folger Next Weeks Readings 2 Chron 36:14-16, 19-23 The exiled Israelites are returned from Babylon to Jerusalem. Psalm 137 The exiled will never forget Jerusalem! Eph 2:4-10 By grace you have been saved. John 3:14-21 God sent his Son, the light, into the world.

Get More Out of Mass - Our Series Continues - We show up to church each Sunday and perform prayers and rituals that many of us have known since childhood. We stand, sit, and kneel. We make the sign of the cross. We recite Holy, Holy, Holy, Lamb of God and Thanks be to God. But what do all these prayers and rituals mean? If you want to really understand the signifi-cance of all that we are saying and doing in the lit-urgy, join us for a video series on Thursday morn-ings at 9:30 a.m. Youll be glad you came!

National Catholic Mission 2015 "Beware the Holy Spirit" will be broadcast on VISIONTV on Monday, March 30 (pt.1) and Tuesday, March 31 (pt. 2) at 6:00 p.m. and repeated at 10:00 p.m. It will be hosted by Fr. Pat Fitzpatrick and features Spiritan Fr. Anthony Gittins.

St. Helens Ham Roll will be on Friday March 27th at St. Mark School Gym. Starts at 7 p.m. (doors open at 6 p.m.) Everyone is welcome. If you wish to volunteer or if

have anything youd like to donate for prizes, please contact Martin or Marion at 905-562-9838.

Bake Sale News & Thank You Our Parish Valentine cookie sale proceeds to the Building Fund were $1,000. Thanks to all who par-ticipated and filled containers with goodies and as-sisted with the sale of them. Special thanks to our sponsors for their donations of the containers and flowers.

World Day of Prayer World Day of Prayer is a worldwide movement of Christian women of many traditions who come to-gether on the first Friday of March each year to ob-serve a common day of prayer. This year's theme is "Do you know what I have done for you?" It has been prepared by the women of the Bahamas. We are invited to join our neighboring churches at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church 4260 Queen St. Beamsville on March 6 at 2:00 pm. Refreshments will follow.

Sacrament of Penance The Diocese of St. Catharines invites us to cele-brate the Sacrament of Penance on Saturday, March 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Every Church in the Diocese will have a Priest available to hear individual Confessions. You are encouraged to cel-ebrate this wonderful sacrament of reconciliation and healing.

Development & Peace This Lent we are being asked to sow seeds of soli-darity with our sisters and brothers in the Global South. This doesnt mean just sharing our material goods with the poorest of the poor, it also means sowing seeds of faith and love within ourselves. Lent is a time to take a look inside ourselves and reflect on our relationships with God and each oth-er. This reflection can be deepened by spending time in prayer and fasting, which assist us in sowing seeds of love and change.

Hear Ye, Hear Ye, Hear Ye!!! Congratulations to our February draw winners: Madonna Keates ticket #251 - $1000, Joanne MacDonald ticket #86 - $500, Odette Koziak ticket #222 - $250, and Olga DAlessio ticket #93 - $250!
