Astin’s (1985) IEO Model: Implications for MSU’s Master’s ProgramRegarding Graduate Education, Inputs are students’ pre-

program impressions, values, and knowledge about higher education and student affairs. Your professional statement submitted with your program application is a small window to understand your predispositions about higher education and student affairs. Your responses to the reflection questions could be viewed as additional input factors.

Environment is made up of academic classes, interactions with peers and faculty in the program, learning in your professional position, learning through your practicum and GA position.

The outcomes from the program should include your performance on all three portfolio questions, and movement into position(s) of your choice.
