NSO-Quezon nagsagawa ng Labor Force Survey

LUNGSOD NG LUCENA, Quezon, Peb 1 (PIA) -- Isinagawa ng National Statistics Office (NSO)-Quezon ang unang bahagi ng Labor Force Survey (LFS) na ginagawa tuwing ikatlong buwan o "quarterly" bawat taon.

Ayon kay provincial statistics officer Airene Pucyutan, ang LFS ay isa sa mga malawakang survey na naglalayong masukat at makapangalap ng datos tungkol sa bilang ng mga may trabaho, walang trabaho, uri ng hanap-buhay, uri ng manggagawa (class of worker), bilang ng oras na ipinagtatrabaho sa isang linggo, at iba pa.

Idinagdag pa ni Pucyutan na ang nabanggit na survey ay makapagbibigay

ng impormasyon na makatutulong para sa pagbuo ng mga plano at programang nakakaapekto sa labor market.

“Hands off our money!” – Quezon farmers assail plan to use coco levy funds for CARPER

The militant peasant group Pinag-isang Lakas ng mga Magbubukid sa Quezon ( P I G L A S - Q u e z o n ) today bashed the Aquino government’s plan to use the coco levy funds for what they called the bogus C o m p r e h e n s i v e Agrarian Reform Program Extension with Reforms (CARPER).

Around 100 members of PIGLAS-Quezon held a protest during the visit of Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Proceso Alcala and National A n t i - P o v e r t y Commission (NAPC) Secretary Joel Rocamora in Mulanay town in Quezon, one of

the coconut-producing municipalities in the province.

The protesters were blocked by local police and were not allowed to hold a program near the municipal hall of Mulanay.

“We’d like to be informed of the purpose of their visit in our town. We’re worried that the coco levy funds might be used for the bogus CARP. The government should keep their hands off our money. Using the funds for a bogus land reform is completely disgusting,” said PIGLAS spokesperson Mylene Zantua.

Recently, the Department of Agrarian Reform proposed that part of coco levy

could be use in the implementation of government’s agrarian reform program.

“The Aquino government, in connivance with its puppet Akbayan, would like to cheat us once again. We will not let them to use the coco levy funds for a land reform program that is actually against us,” says Zantua.“We would not allow the Aquino government to use small coconut farmers’ money to pay big landlords like Danding Cojuangco, who owns a 2,000-hectare hacienda and the Southern Luzon Coconut Oil Mill here in Mulanay,” Zantua said.The group condemned Rocamora, who also chairs the Presidential

Task Force on the Coco Levy Funds for pushing the allocation of P11.17 billion pesos from the coco levy funds for his “Poverty Reduction Program for the Coconut Industry”, which includes the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).

Petitioners welcome extension of TRO on Cybercrime law, call for vigilance

MANILA – Several groups of petitioners rejoiced as the Supreme Court extended indefinitely the temporary restraining order (TRO) on the implementation of the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.

In its regular en banc session Tuesday, the high court granted the petitioners’ plea for TRO extension for an indefinite period of time.

At least 15 groups have filed petitions before the high court seeking to declare the Cybercrime Prevention Act of Republic Act 10175 unconstitutional. In October 2012, the high court issued a 120-day TRO following a series of protests. The original TRO was to expire tomorrow, February 6.

In a statement, the College Editors Guild of the Philippines (CEGP), an alliance of tertiary student publications that organized vigils in front of the Supreme Court, said the indefinite extension of the TRO on Cybercrime law is a “victory for freedom lovers.”

“It is a victory for the people who protested against the law online and offline. This is a product of collective effort for freedom of expression,” Pauline Gidget Estella, CEGP national president, said.

At the same time, Estella called on fellow netizens, students and professionals, to remain vigilant. “This is only an extension, and there is still a possibility of implementation after the extended TRO. What we want is a ‘permanent restraining order.’ We demand that the law be junked,” Estella said.

Meanwhile, the National Union of Peoples Lawyers (NUPL), counsel for one group of petitioners,

said the “public must remain vigilant and critical about the dangers of the law, the manner it was approved, and on the overall, the stubborn position demonstrated by the Aquino administration in crafting it.”

During the oral arguments on January 29, Chief Justice Ma. Lourdes Sereno noted that certain provisions of the law, particularly those sundan sa pahina12

GUMACA, Quezon, Peb 1 (PIA) -- Patuloy ang pagkakaloob ng pamahalaang nasyunal sa pamahalaang bayan ng Gumaca ng mga programang pang-imprastraktura.

Sinabi ni Mayor Erwin Caralian na kabilang sa mga programang patuloy na ipinatutupad sa bayan ng Gumaca ay ang mga programang kagaya ng konstruksiyon ng farm-to-market roads, irigasyon at patubig na siyang tutulong sa mga magsasaka sa pag-angat ng antas ng kanilang kabuhayan.

Bukod sa nasabing mga programa, tumutulong din aniya ang pamahalaang nasyunal o Kagawaran ng kalusugan at ang pamahalaang panlalawigan ng Quezon sa pagbibigay ng mga serbisyong pangkalusugan para sa mga mamamayan ng Gumaca lalo na sa mga mahihirap na halos walang kakayahang bumili ng gamot at magpagamot sa mga pribadong ospital.

Dental Health Month at Heart Month, ipinagdiriwang ng Pamahalaang Panlalawigan

Nanguna sa isinagawang regular na Monday Flag raising ceremony ang Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) sa pangunguna ni Dr. Agripino Tullas, Provincial Health Officer kaugnay ng pagdiriwang ng Dental Health Month at Heart Month ngayong buwan ng Pebrero.

Kaugnay ng pagdiriwang ng Dental Health Month na may temang “Ngipin pangalagaan, sakit maiiwasan, bansa’y matutulungan tungo sa kaunlaran”, namahagi ng libreng mga toothpaste at toothbrush ang IPHO sa mga kawani ng pamahalaang panlalawigan.

Ayon kay Dr. Olga Munoz, layunin ng gawaing ito na maipaabot sa lahat ang kalahagahan ng pangangalaga sa ating mga ngipin at bibig. Mahalaga aniya ang maayos na dental health lalo na sa mga kawani ng pamahalaan upang makapagbigay ng serbisyong maayos at serbisyong may ngiti na ipinatutupad sa pamahalaang

panlalawigan sa atas ni Gov. David “JayJay” C. Suarez.

Nagiging resulta aniya ng pagsakit ng ngipin ay hindi pagpasok sa opisina dahil sa sama ng pakiramdam at kung pumasok man hindi makapagtrabaho ng maayos at hindi makaharap sa mga kliyente upang magbigay ng serbisyo.

Dinagdag pa ni Dr. Olga na hindi lamang tuwing buwan ng Pebrero sila nagsasagawa ng mga dental program, ito aniya ay kampanya nila sa buong taon. Kabilang din sa kanilang gawain ay ang pagpunta sa mga day care center sa buong lalawigan ng Quezon para mabantayan ang dental health ng mga bata dito.

Ayon naman kay Dr. Tullas, isa sa nanatiling problema lalo na sa mga pampublikong paaralan ay ang Oral Health na malaki ang nagiging epekto sa mga kabataan partikular na sa kaso ng malnutrisyon.

Samantala, kaugnay naman ng pagdiriwang ng Heart Month na may temang “Healthy Lifestyle to the Max ay gawin araw-araw,

upang sakit sa puso ay maiwasan”, nagsagawa ng libreng pagkuha ng blood pressure ang IPHO sa mga kawani ng pamahalaang panlalawigan.

Ipinaalala din ni Dr. Tullas ang mga healthy habits upang maiwasan ang pagkakaroon ng sakit sa puso tulad ng hindi paninigarilyo at pag-inom ng alak, pagkain ng mga gulay at prutas, pag-iwas sa ipinagbabawal na gamot, pagbantay sa presyon ng dugo at iba pa.

-- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-Quezon will award livelihood checks to Masco farmers marketing cooperative in Lopez and Pinagdalayan multi-purpose cooperative in Dolores.

Impact of damage to Tubbataha by US Navy ship more than what is being reported — groupsMANILA –When the

US Navy’s minesweeper trespassed and got stuck at Tubbataha Reef, the daily catch of Palawan fisherfolk have reportedly begun to decrease. It has been two weeks now since the US navy ship got stuck

at the marine park with the damage to the reef reportedly growing from the previous estimated 1,000 square meters to more than double that.

And damage is feared to further widen the longer the navy ship remains stuck, prompting more calls for the Philippine government to investigate and take action.It would take at least 250 years for corals to grow back, experts said.

So far, critics slammed Malacañang for having given the US military freedom to solely take action, allowing the US Navy to get more reinforcement and ships in the area, or example, giving them privacy in

stripping off the contents and armaments of its minesweeper, allowing them to forbid Filipinos including the coastguard from getting near their ship, allowing the US Navy to spirit out of the country most of the reported 80-plus sailors of the trespassing minesweeper.It is not even questioning the US government why its navy ship was there in the first place, various groups said. The Aquino government has also apparently ceded to the US government the investigation into why it got stuck in the no-sail zone. LUCENA CITY STREETS: The People Behind the Names

Three of the streets in Lucena City were named after its pillars: Fr. Mariano Granja; a Franciscan priest who worked with the principalia ( an electoral body tasked with the election of community leaders) to establish a new municipality that would later become Lucena, Hermana Fausta Labrador; an educator and social worker who later founded Sacred Heart College and is now a candidate for sainthood, and Faustino Enriquez, the first governadorcillo of Lucena.

Aside from the three

previously mentioned, majority of the streets in Lucena City were named after politicians or political families that have played major roles in its birth and development such as Don Crisanto Marquez; first municipal president of Lucena, Jose Zaballero; the captain municipal of Lucena who led local revolutionaries during the Philippine Revolution, and principalia members Melanio Allarey, Bartolome Queblar, Doroteo Trinidad, Rufino Barcelona, Bernardo Merchan, Gregorio Merchan, Francisco Juarez,

Santiago Abellanosa, Bonifacio Marquez, Santiago Zaballero, Candido Zaballero, and Simeon Perez.

Other politicians who also fall under this category include former municipal presidents Pedro Nieva (1916) and Feliciano Zoleta (1910), former councilors Juan Evangelista, Antonio Lagos (1937), Manuel Edaño (1937), Federico Daleon (1947), and Ernesto Cabana (1963), former vice mayor Pedro Torres (1937), former mayors Gregorio Marquez (1903), Venancio

Mayor Boyet Masilang, patuloy ang pagsuporta sa edukasyon ng mga Sariayahin

S A R I A Y A , QUEZON - Patuloy ang ginagawang pagsuporta at pagtulong ni Sariaya Mayor Boyet Masilang sa mga Sariayahin lalo na sa larangan ng edukasyon.

Ayon kay Ferdz Esteban, may mga programa si Mayor Masilang na tulong pang-edukasyon na masasabing orihinal na nagmula sa bayan ng Sariaya.

Isa na dito ang “School Empowerment Fund” o SEF na brain child ni Mayor Masilang. Kakaiba aniya ito sa special education fund na karaniwang tinatanggap ng education sector sa lahat ng mga local government units.

Paliwanag ni Esteban, ang SEF ay nagset aside ang LGU ng pondong P1.250 million pesos, sa pagtutulungan ng Mayor’s Office at ng Sanguniang Bayan ng Sariaya, para sa repairs and maintenance ng bawat public elementary at high school sa Sariaya na may bilang na 43, 37 sa elementary at 6 sa sekundarya.

Ang nasabing pondo ay ibinabahagi sa mga ito, malaki man o maliit ang paaralan, kung saan lumalabas ditto na mayroong mahigit sa P29,000 ang bawat isa.

Ito ay ginawa ni Mayor Masilang bilang pagtugon sa mga PTA Officers at mga principal ng mga eskwelahan na nagtutungo sa kaniyang tanggapan upang magsolicit sa

pagpapaayos ng kanilang paaralan, isang bagay na inayaw ni Masilang dahilan sa nagpapababa ito sa kanilang dignidad bilang mga punong guro.

At upang hindi na muling maulit pa ang nasabing pangyayari ay nagpanukala ang alkalde na magkaroon ng pondo para sa mga ito at ito nga ang SEF.

Isa pa rin sa orihinal na programang pang-edukasyon ni Mayor Masilang ay ang pagsuporta sa 16 na locally funded teachers o LFT.

Dahil sa kakulangan ng natatanggap na sweldo, bilang ayuda upang mapanatili ang kalidad ng edukasyon na natatanggap ng mga kabataang Sariayahin ay naglaan rin ng pondo ang local na pamahalaan, sa inisyatiba pa rin ni Mayor Masilang, na pangpasweldo sa mga karagdagang guro na hindi mapapasweldo ng Department of Education o DepEd.

Ipinagmalaki rin ni Ginoong Esteban na umaabot sa halagang P10,000 piso ang natatanggap ng mga LFT sa bayan ng Sariaya kung saan ipinaglaban pa aniya ito ni Masilang dahil ayon sa alkalde, “Kung ang isang guro ay nagtuturo at ang iniisip niya ay kung ano ang kaniyang ibibili ng bigas para sa kanyang pamilya sa kinabukasan, ay hindi aniya magiging epektibo ang kaniyang pagtuturo”.

Dagdag pa ni Esteban,

nagsimula ang mga pagbibigay ng sweldo sa mga LFT noon pang taong 2007 hanggang sa kasalukuyan.

Taong 2009 rin hanggang sa kalukuyan ay mayroon ng tatlong public high school ang binuksan ang local na pamahalaan sa pangunguna pa rin ni Mayor Masilang.

Dahil na rin sa lawak na sakop at sa dami ng mga mag-aaral sa bayan ng Sariaya, kung kaya’t nagtayo ng public high school ang alkalde sa Brgy. Pili, Brgy. Bignay 2 at Brgy. Castañas.

Isa rin sa nagging dahilan ng pagpapatayo ng mga nabanggit na paaralan ay ang pagpapatuloy ng pag-aaral ng mga kabataang hindi nakakapag-aral dahilan sa kakapusan ng pinansyal.

Dahil isa rin sa naging panuntunan ng ama ng Sariaya ay, “Kapag nailapit mo ang edukasyon sa tao, ay hindi madedecongest ang malalaking paaralan, kundi maraming mag-aaral na kabataan lalo na ang mga walang kakayahang makapag-aral dahilan sa kahirapan”.

Sa katunayan bukod sa mga tulong sa mga punong guro, mga guro at mga magulang, patuloy ang ginagawang pagtatayo ni Mayor Masilang ng mga silid-aralan sa tatlong pampublikong high schoo, na matatagpuan sa mga barangay ng Pili, Bignay at sa Castañas, sa kanilang bayan.

Esteban, sa tulong na rin ng Sanguniang Bayan ng Sariaya ay napatayo ang mga paaralan sa Pili National High School kung san mayroon ditong 6 na classrooms ang ibinigay ng local ng pamahalaan ng Sariaya sa pangunguna pa rin ng Partner ng Bayan na si Mayor Masilang at sa pakikipagtulungan ng Philippine Chinese Chamber of Commerce ay nakapagbigay ang mga ito ng 2 classrooms.

Maging ang dating 2nd District Congressman at ngayon ay Agriculture Sec. Proceso “Procy” Alcala ay nagpatayo rin ito ng 2 silid aralan habang nagbigay naman ang Department of Education o DepEd ng isang 2 storey school building na mayroong apat na classrooms.

Ang tanggapan naman ng Depatment of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) aynagbigay rin ng isang silid aralan at ayon pa rin kay Esteban, sa ngayon ay paparating na rin ang tulong mula kay Senator TG Guingona para sa karagdagan pang mga classrooms.

Samantala, sa Bignay National High School naman ay mayroong apat na mga silid aralan ang ibinigay ng LGU, 2 naman mula sa tanggapan ni Congressman Irvin Alcala kasama ang Rotary Club of Lucena South at maging si Senator Loren Legarda ay nagbigay rin ng silid aralan sa nasabing paaralan.

Nagpatayo rin ng isang classroom si Senator Chiz Escudero at sa kasalukuyan ay inaayos na rin ang dalawang silid aralan na ipinatatayo naman ni Senator Allan Peter Cayetano.

Sa Castañas National Hgih School naman ay apat na classrooms rin ang inilaan ng local na pamahalaan ng Sariaya, 2 mula sa Foodster Foods na pinamumunuaan ni Mr. Henry Uy sa pakikipagtulungan pa rin ng Phil. Chinese Chamber of Commerce, 1 mila pa rin sa tanggapan ni

Congressman Irvin Alcala sa pakikipagtulungan rin ng DPWH, at dalang silid aralan rin ang kasalukuyan ring itinatayo na nagmula naman sa tanggapan ni Sen. Koko Pimentel.

Impact of damage to Tubbataha by US Navy ship...

to airlifting, the latest proposal to get the ship out of the protected reef is by chopping it up. All the while, the ship continues to batter the reef, and according to fisherfolk members of Pamalakaya in Palawan, oil has started to leak from the US navy ship, but is apparently being kept under wraps. All these combine to immediately disadvantage the livelihood of Filipinos, especially the Palawan fisherfolk.

In a recent report from the Pamalakaya chapter in Palawan, fisherfolk said they cannot get as near to the reef now as previously allowed because of the grounded ship, Salvador France, national vice-chairman of Pamalakaya, told Bulatlat.com.

The waters near Tubbataha are reportedly the richest in the area as it

is the breeding ground for many fishes. While before the fisherfolk are allowed to catch fish in areas about seven kilometers near Tubbataha Reef, now, they said,they are pushed back to 15km or 10km at most.

In the first few days of the USS Guardian’s grounding, Pamalakaya fisherfolk in the area complained that fisherfolk were barred at gunpoint from going near the reef and their usual fishing ground. They encountered machine guns trained on their approaching small boats. Later, they said the local government issued advisories forbidding them to enter the area near the grounded US Navy ship.

They were allowed to fish 15km to 10km at most near the reef after the US Navy have stripped off some equipment of their grounded ship. But

MTRCB, isusulong ang pagpapahalaga sa mga ugaling

and Classification Board (MTRCB) ang kampanyang tinaguriang MTRCB Forum ‘Matalinong Panonood para sa Pamilya ni Juan at Juana’ na nagbibigay-diin sa mga ugali at kulturang Pilipino.

Sinabi ni Abogado Eugenio “Toto” Villareal, bagong tagapangulo ng MTRCB, sa pulong-balitaan sa Malacanang na sinimulan na ng MTRCB ang pagsasagawa ng mga forum sa iba-ibang lalawigan noon pang magtatapos ang 2012.

“Nagsimula kaming pumalaot at patuloy na umiikot ang aming mga board members sa iba’t ibang lalawigan. Ibig naming ipaalam sa madla na mayroon tayong mga local regulatory council volunteers sa mga lalawigan at bayan,” sabi ni Villareal.

Ang layunin nito ay imulat ang taong bayan sa revised classification rating ng MTRCB para sa mga pelikula at telebisyon, gayundin para ipabatid sa madla ang tungkulin ng ahensiya sa ilalim ng Presidential Decree 1986.

Idinugtong ni Villareal na ang pagdaraos ng forum ay upang malaman nang lahat, lalo na ng mga karaniwang mamamayan at mga bata ang magiging tungkulin ng ahensiya. Ang kampanyang ito ay para gabayan ang taong bayan sa uri ng palabas sa telebisyon na dapat nilang panoorin salig sa kasalukuyang pamantayang pangkalinangan ng mga Pilipino.

“Ang nais namin ay maunawaan natin ang kasalukuyang kaugaliang Pilipino. Hindi po lamang mga pelikula at programa sa telebisyon ang sinusuri namin, pati po ang mga posters, playbills, billboards, kung masyadong sexy. Dumaraan po sa amin iyon,” dugtong ni Villareal.

Ipinaliwanag ni Villareal na ibig nilang tumulong ang komunidad, lalo na ang sektor ng edukasyon sa MTRCB sa pagtupad nito sa tungkuling para sa kapakanan din ng madla.

Idinugtong ni Villareal na pati ang mga bus at ferry boats na nagpapalabas ng video entertainment ay sakop nila at nahahati ang grado ng panoorin sa “G” at “PG” (General Audience at Parental Guidance).

Inihayag din ni Villareal na sa taong ito, idaraos nila ang Family and Child Summit para lumawak pa ang kamulatan ng mga magulang at nasa hustong edad sa pamilya sa iba-ibang klasipikasyon ng mga pelikula sa telebisyon at mga sine.

“Sa summit na ito ay gagawing kabalikat ng pamahalaan ang iba pang stakeholders para magkaroon ng kakayahan ang mga pamilya na suriin at piliin ang panoorin nila,” wika pa ni Villareal.

Hindi lamang pagsusuri ng pelikula ang sagutin ng MTRCB kundi upang maging pasimuno ng pagbabago sa pamamagitan ng pagtulong sa industriya ng pelikula at telebisyon upang tumaas ang kalidad at maging globally competitive.

Kinikilala ng ahensiya ang telebisyon at pelikula na napakahalagang kasangkapan tungo sa moralidad at pagtatag ng bansa.

Gabriela performs One Billion Rising flash mob vs ‘rape of Motherland’

Members of militant women’s alliance Gabriela yesterday protested the US military intervention in the Philippines, as well as the various government policies that adversely affect Filipino women and the people.

And they did it through dance: a flash mob of the One Billion Rising (OBR) anthem “Isang Bilyong Babaeng Babangon” in the middle of a bustling intersection of Legarda and Recto Avenues, near Don Chino Roces (formerly Mendiola) Bridge, in Manila. In a statement, Gabriela said the protest action kicks off the month-long series of actions, including the global

day of dancing and protesting for OBR on February 14, and will culminate on March 8, the International Women’s Day.

Gabriela Rep. Emmi de Jesus said that they launched the action to protest the Aquino government’s complicity with the US military violations of the country’s national sovereignty and even abuse of women.

“When we rise against violence (in OBR), what we want to show is primarily state-instigated violence. (This includes) all the policies of the government that opens the gate for (Filipino) women to experience different kinds of violence,” De Jesus said.

She reiterated Gabriela’s call to scrap the PH-US Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA) that reinforces the one-sided relationship between the Philippines and the US. The VFA mainly benefits US interests, De Jesus said.

“Why do we allow the use of Philippine soil for their military exercises when in fact we are not associated with their wars of aggression?” De Jesus asked.

M e a n w h i l e , Nitz Gonzaga of the women’s department of Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU) said the OBR movement is not only a protest against gender-based violence.

She said it is also a protest against many

issues confronting women, including the rampant demolition of urban-poor communities as well as the lack of policies that favor workers such as substantial wage hikes, abolition of contractualization of work and others.

Gabriela also criticized the Aquino administration for pushing for the privatization of public hospitals, including the Philippine Orthopedic Center, where many impoverished women and men turn to for medical assistance.

Technology is slowly taking over people's lives and beginning to affect their personal relationships. The internet is becoming a segway to personal information and has made almost everyone’s private information available to different publics.

We are in the next wave of technology, where communicating with friends is all on the internet and instantly done. New social networking sites are popping up every day and people are taking advantage of them. You can see their away messages online and see what they are doing at that very instant.

With Internet sources and social networking sites becoming so mainstream it has become more than clear that society has official began to depend too much on the Internet and technology.

Some people say a month is enough, some say a couple of days, we recommend waiting a week.

2. “Like”-ing Questionable Things If someone shares that their dog just died, it’s

probably best not to “Like” it. Also, it’s in bad taste to “Like” relationship changes, particularly the ones that involve a break up. You can tell a lot about a person based on the things they “Like”.

3. Posting Unflattering and Incriminating Pictures of Yourself/Others

So you had a crazy weekend at the pool with your closest friends, got a little too drunk and passed out with your pants off, while you may think that was a hoot and a holler and don’t mind sharing the photographic evidence with the world, you should probably re-think it. The same goes for posting unflattering photos of your friends. The golden rule should be, if you wouldn’t want your friends seeing you like that, chances are, they wouldn’t either.

4. Ranting about assignment when your teacher is on your friends list

Let’s say you hate your Professor and want everyone to know it, it’s probably best to make sure he/she isn’t on your friends list. After all, there’s nothing more pathetic and sadder than Facebook costing you your grades. Facebook allows you to create custom friend groups, use it.

5. Don’t be onion-skinned if you sent someone a friend request and are ignored. People have different reasons for joining Facebook. Some want to keep it only among close friends and relatives, others need it for business networking. Be more open minded about this. It’s nothing personal

6. Do not badmouth anybody if you cannot stand by what you say.

Whatever you put on Facebook is bound to be read or seen by friends, and friends of friends. The world is so small, and Facebook has made it even smaller, that everyone has become interconnected. Expect to invite controversy if you put status like “Kristine is so pissed at Andi’’ or “I hate the people I work with’’ or “My office is full of morons.’’

If you bad mouth or write not-so-good things about a person or an event, chances are it will be read by someone who can add malice to it and spread the word like wildfire. Be careful, do not shoot yourself in the foot!

7. Watch your SNS manners!The Internet has made the matter of manners murkier

than before. Social networking sites like Facebook make the question of etiquette even trickier. With so many applications, “pokes”, invites, and causes to respond to, how does one do so without ruffling any feathers? Good manners were easier to figure out. Common sense dictates it.

8. Why so serious? Lastly, the Internet is an absurd place, one that has brought us such things as lolcats, 2 girls 1 cup, and Keyboard Cat. If everybody took everything that happened online seriously, no one would be friends with anyone. Relax, take a deep breath, and have fun online!

The online rule of thumb is this: The Internet in general, and Facebook in particular, is forever, and one should carefully consider what one puts out there. Nothing you put on the Internet is private. EVER.

Ang teachers’ convention ay taunang isinasagawa ng Department of Education (DepEd) na ngayongtaon ay dalawang araw na isasagawa kung saan hinati sa dalawang cluster ang mga guro mula sa apat na distrito sa lalawigan na pinangunahan ni Quezon Division Schools Superintendent Tolentino Aquino, CESO VI.

Nagkaroon ng clustering at hinati sa dalawang araw ang mga guro sa lalawigan upang maging komportable at hindi siksikan ang mga guro sa convention dahil taun-taon aniya ay patuloy na lumalaki ang pamilya ng DepEd at nais niyang mag-enjoy ang mga ito.

Kabilang sa mga inihandang pampasiglang bilang para sa mga guro ay ang paghahandog ng awitin ng mga Quezon’s Pride na sina 1st Philippine Idol Mau Marcelo, world champion na sina Kat Loria at Reymond Sajor at bandang Olayapanit. “publicity stunt” lamang ang distribusyon ng mga Certificate of Land Ownership Award (CLOA) sa mga magsasaka sa Bondoc Peninsula, ayon sa mga grupong magsasaka na naniniwalang ginawa ito ng gobyernong Aquino para pabanguhin ang umano’y bangkaroteng C o m p r e h e n s i v e Agrarian Reform Program Extension with Reforms (Carper). Naghihinala ring silang ginagamit ito ng ilang matataas na opisyal para sa darating na eleksiyon.

“Gusto man naming paniwalaan ang sinseridad ni Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Secretary Virgilio Delos Reyes sa pamamahagi ng CLOA sa mga magsasaka sa mga niyugan ng Quezon, hindi maiaalis sa amin na ituring itong pagpapakitang-gilas lamang,” pahayag ng Katipunan ng mga Samahang Magbubukid sa Timog Katagalugan (Kasama-TK).

Kahapon, ginawaran ng mga CLOA ang mga magbubukid sa 480 ektarya ng niyugan sa mga bayan ng San Narciso, Buenavista at San Andres sa Quezon, sa isang seremonya na pinamunuan ni Delos Reyes, Sec. Prospero Alcala ng Department of Agriculture, at Sec. Joel Rocamora ng National Anti-Poverty Commission at Task Force on Coco Levy Funds.

“Ang pamilya ni Alcala ay magtatakbuhang gobernador, kongresista at meyor sa Quezon. Kailangan nila ang papoging kagaya nang naganap kahapon,” sabi ng Kasama-TK.

Kinuwestiyon din ng grupo ang presensiya ni Rocamora. “May interes siya sa coco levy funds,” ayon sa grupo, na inaakusahan ang dating lider ng Akbayan na gagamitin ang pondo ng mga magniniyog para sa kanyang partido, na tumatakbo sa eleksiyong party-list at may kandidato sa pagkasenador.

Ipinunto rin ng Kasama-TK ang rekord ng DAR na “bigay-bawi” ng CLOA. “Alam ni Sec. Delos Reyes ang katotohanang ito,” dagdag ng grupo.

Ayon naman sa Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP), walang bago sa pamimigay ng

gobyerno ng CLOA, na umano’y isang kapirasong papel lamang. “Ang ibig sabihin lang nito, kailangan magbayad ang magbubukid sa gobyerno sa loob ng 30 taon kahit wala talagang kaseguruhan na mapapasakanila ang lupa,” ayon kay Randall Echanis, pangkalahatang kalihim ng KMP.

Ipinunto ni Echanis na ang di-pagbayad ng amortasisyon ang isa rin sa mga nagiging batayan para bawiin ang CLOA.

Binalikan din ng lider-magsasaka ang distribusyon ni dating pangulong Joseph Estrada ng mga CLOA sa asyenda ni Eduardo “Danding” Cojuangco Jr. sa Negros noong 1998, at distribusyon ng mga CLOA ni dating pangulong Gloria Arroyo sa Misamis Occidental (2002) at Nueva Ecija (2008), na wala umanong kinahinatnan.

Sa pag-aaral pa ng Ibon Foundation, mayroong mahigit 2,000 na Emancipation Patent at CLOA, na sumasakop sa 380,000 ektarya ng lupa, ang kinansela noon lamang 2004.

Kinansela rin ng DAR ang mga CLOA na sumasaklaw sa libu-libong ektarya ng lupa, gaya ng sa Hacienda Looc sa Nasugbu, Batangas; at Hacienda Araneta sa San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan, ayon sa KMP.

“Malinaw na ang pamamahagi ng CLOA sa Hacienda Reyes sa Quezon ay isang last-ditch effort para isalba ang Carper at linlangin ang mga magsasakang Pilipino,” sabi ni Echanis.

S a m a n t a l a , inireklamo rin ng Kasama-TK na mga miyembro ng Cafgu (Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit) ang mga kasapi ng Kilusang Magbubukid ng Bondoc Peninsula (KMBP), alyadong organisasyon ng Akbayan, na nakatanggap ng mga CLOA. “Katulong (sila) ng Philippine Army sa pandarahas sa mga magsasakang hindi sang-ayon sa CARP,” ayon sa Kasama-TK.

Ayon sa kanya, ang lahat ng scholarship program ay ipinagkakaloob lamang hanggang sa pag-aaral sa kolehiyo, ngunit sa tulong ng Sangguniang Panlalawigan ay nagpasa ng resolusyon para mapabilang sa scholarship program ang mga gurong nagnanais kumuha ng masteral degree ngunit walang kakayahan pinansyal.

Lubos namang ikinatuwa ng mga guro ang naturang pahayag ng Ama ng Lalawigan kung saan napaiyak pa sa tuwa ang isang guro mula sa San Antonio, Quezon na kumukuha ng masteral na unang mabibiyayaan ng naturang scholarship program.

Known as a hotbed of communist insurgency in the 70s and 80’s, the Bondoc Peninsula of Quezon province, the military camp that’s based in Barangay. Ajos, Catanauan, Quezon that spread the campaign plan of the internal security operation (ISO) was transferred to Occidental Mindoro as a widened campaign of peace and security.

After staying for ten months in Bondoc Peninsula, the 76th Infantry (Victrix) Battalion has moved last February 5, 2013 from its present location in Catanauan, Quezon to Occidental Mindoro. It replaced 80th Infantry Battalion which is due to go on scheduled battalion retraining at Fort Ramon Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija.

76th IB has contributed much in maintaining peace and security in the whole province of Quezon under the 201st Brigade

Through the leadership of LTC Edmund Peralta, the unit was able to gain public trust and support through continuous conduct of Civil Military Operations, and peace and development activities in collaboration with the different stakeholders in its area of responsibility particularly with the Local Government Units.

The good image projected by 76IB troopers in its successful conduct of different activities under Internal Peace and Security Plan “Bayanihan” will be remembered forever and imprinted in the hearts and minds of the people of Bondoc Peninsula.

Militants to DAR: Drop 303 criminal charges to Quezon farmers

An activist party list group on Thursday slammed the distribution of some 480 hectares of land in Bondoc Peninsula to landless farmers in Quezon province as avant garde grandstanding and super roadshow promotion of a failed agrarian reform program.

The group likewise dared the DAR secretary to order the dropping of 303 criminal charges filed against landless farmers of Bondoc Peninsula.

Anakpawis party list vice chairperson Fernando Hicap, also the no.1 nominee of Anakpawis partylist advised the farmers of Bondoc Peninsula to be extra careful in dealing with DAR and other groups working with Malacanang and other sinister groups in clandestine.

At the rate DAR is doing its work, the agency has to work at 20 times its current pace to meet its targets.DAR is supposed to finish the distribution of 1.3 million hectares of land to landless farmers. levy funds claimants and beneficiaries in Southern Tagalog welcome Congress initiative to look into the alleged anomalies in importation and selling of palm-based cooking oil by a sequestered oil mill.

Nestor Villanueva, regional coordinator of the claimants group Coco Levy Funds Ibalik sa Amin (CLAIM)-Southern Tagalog, however, challenged the Lower House to prove that this Congress-led probe would not be just another pre-campaign period stunt by representatives vying for reelection.

“Probe is good, but a single oil mill’s treacherous practice is just a drop in a barrel of anomalies involving coconut levy fund,” Villanueva said in a statement today.

Villanueva issued the statement after Minority Leader and Quezon Representative Danilo Suarez said he “will call for an immediate stop” to what he described as “anomalous selling and importation” of palm by San Pablo Manufacturing Corp. (SPMC), one of the six oil mills in the country acquired or established through the coco levy funds.

“We would want to

expect sincerity from the

gentlemen in Congress in shedding light into the scandalous transactions of San Pablo Manufacturing Corp. (SPMC) but to make us believe that they really are after the truth they must pass House Bill # 3443.”

HB 3443 o the Coconut Levy Funds Administration and Management Bill proposed by Anakpawis Partylist would enable the people to discover the vastness of wealth created through the coconut farmers’ funds.

“Farmers know best,” Villanueva retorted when asked why they are against President Noynoy Aquino’s plans on the disposition of the funds.

“That’s simply stating that first; we are very doubtful of Mr. Aquino’s record in looking after the welfare of farmers and; second, that’s our money, we ought to have the right to decide how to spend it,”

CLAIM consultations in different coconut areas in the region gathered support for the group’s proposal to use the coco levy funds to provide coconut farmers and their families cash benefits alongside socio-economic projects.

Villanueva also clarified that CLAIM-ST does not exclude members from political parties identified with the Aquino government.

“Our aim is to deliver justice to coconut farmers from whom these funds were extracted several decades ago regardless of their political beliefs,” Villanueva said after clarifying that CLAIM,

as an alliance of farmers organizations, federations, coconut planters associations and individual claimants and beneficiaries of coco levy funds, encourages other organizations and parties to support the CLAIM proposal.

Small coconut farmers recently staged a protest-dialog at the main office of the National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC) in Quezon City to urge Secretary Joel Rocamora to abandon his agency’s attempt to meddle with the P70 billion coco levy funds.

Violence erupted between farmers and state security forces when Rocamora refused the dialog and CLAIM leaders were not allowed to enter the public building.

“The confrontation at the NAPC office last Thursday was an isolated incident. While CLAIM does not tolerate disorder among our members, we demand the Aquino government that the legitimate concerns of the claimants and their right to peaceably assemble should not be compromised,” Villanueva concluded. Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP) also welcomed the TRO extension. “The ruling, just a day before the original 120-day TRO on the new law was to lapse, is definitely a victory for all those who oppose a statute that would serve the effectively stifle free expression, the free flow of information, the right to privacy and a host of other rights and freedoms,” the group said.

The NUJP thanked and congratulated the “lawyers of the people who very ably laid down the reasons why this unjust law must be junked.”
