    Auction

Nashville, TN ~ I cant begin to tell you

how many phone calls we have receivedfrom folks looking for a specific kind ofauction to attend. The same goes for thepeople who call and ask our advice as tohow they can sell some things they nolonger need. A number of these inquiriescome from folks that just have too muchstuff.

So what do you do? You have a need forthe space which is now occupied by a lotof stuff you can and wish you could getrid of.

You dont have the time or the patience tohave a yard sale. Using classified ads re-quires a meeting with the prospective buyer to allow them to view the mer-chandise, always around diner time. Youend up having to stand around, negotiat-ing the price until your evening meal is ascold as the stare you receive when you

CHICAGO (AFP) A clump of Elvis Presley'shair has sold for $18,300 dollars, while one of

his shirts has raised $62,000 dollars at an auc-

tion of memorabilia belonging to the King of

    Rock 'n' Roll.

More than 150 items that had belonged to the

former president of the Elvis Presley fan club

went on the block at Chicago's Leslie Hindman

    auctioneers.

The priciest items included a red ultra-suede

shirt worn by Elvis, which was sold for

$34,000 dollars, and a monogrammed cream-

colored shirt that sold for 62,000, according tothe auction house's listing of post-auction sale

prices. Two concert-worn scarves sold for a

    combined $2,318 dollars. A set of concert-used

handkerchiefs went for $732 dollars. Presley's

personal collection of single song mini-

records, known as 45 rpms, sold for

    $3,904 dollars.

    Wedding and

    bridal shower

    photos of Elvis

    and wife Priscilla

    sold for nearly

    6,000 dollars.

    Personal letters

    from Elvis' rela-

    tives were also

among the items up for auction, including a

collection of letters from his estranged grand-

father J.D. Presley, which sold for 1,159 dol-lars, and from his aunt, which raised 458

    dollars.

The auction house did not provide details

about the buyers, one of whom paid 18,300 for

a "large quantity" of Elvis' hair.

say no, I will not reduce the price any

lower. You could use an internet site tosell your items but running back and forthto the local shipping outlet sending oneitem at a time is such a hassle.

Now, AuctioneerDavid Allen ofMusic City Auctionhas come up withthe perfect solutionwith his new 4thWednesday auc-tion.

    It is called 4thW e d n e s d a y mainly because thatis when it will beheld, every 4thWednesday of eachmonth.

Here is how it works. As a seller, you simply

rent booth space. The minimum size booth is

10 x 10, giving most of the sellers plenty of

room to display their merchandise. More

floor space can be rented if needed. The

Monday and Tuesday prior to the 4th

Wednesday Auction are the days desig-

nated for you to deliver your items to the

huge Music City Auction warehouse in

    downtown Nashville.

On sale day, the auctioneers move from

booth to booth selling every item in that

booth at Absolute Auction. For those who

may be new to the auction method of sell-ing, absolute means the highest bid wins the

item. Everything in that booth space is sold

and the auctioneer moves to the next booth

    and the process starts again.

Imagine, no more pricing every item and

scattering them all over your property and

then having to decide what to do with the

things that do not sell. All the inconvenience

of ridding your home of unwanted items is

now left in the hands of a professional Auc-

tioneer. It cant get any easier.

If you just want to go buy more stuff, then this

is the place to be. The auctioneer paused dur-

ing the bid calling to remind one participant

that she was really getting some great buys that

would definitely turn her a profit when re-sell-

ing them at her upcoming garage sale planned

    for this weekend.

There was such of variety of items being of-

fered. It brings to mind the old saying, One

mans trash is another mans treasure. If you

have found this to be true like many of us have,

    then the rainbow,

    with your pot of

    gold, ends just offBroadway on

    George L. Davis

    Blvd.

    If you are interested

    in either buying or

    selling you can con-

    tact:

    See you at the Auction

Gather up your stuff, rent a booth space and let a professional auctioneer and his crew do the

rest of the work for you. This new auction has to be the answer to, how do I sell the things I

    no longer need?

Rare 1940 Gabel Kuro jukebox sells at

    Auction for $120,750

An extremely rare 1940 Gabel Kuro

jukebox - nicknamed the last juke-

box and one of only six known -

sold for $120,750 at the sale of the

world-famous jukebox and advertis-ing collection of the late John Gur-

    rech of Houston, TX.

The Gabel Kuro had been painstak-

ingly restored over a period of sev-

eral years by Mr. Gurrech, who

    personally restored nearly every

jukebox offered that day. The ma-

chine, which plays 78 rpm records,

is in the Art Deco style. The buyer-

purchased the jukebox to install in

    his multi-million dollar, Art Deco-

    themed residence.

About 350 people packed the Hal

    Hunt Auctions showroom, located at

Northport AL. Some from as far

away as Belgium, Austria, France and

Canada. Auctioneer Hal Hunt also esti-

mated about half the fifty states in the

    country were represented. The audience

was full of energy and excitement for the en-

tire duration of the sale, all seven hours, he

    said.

Additional highlights from the sale follow. All

prices quoted includes a 15% buyers premium.

Wurlitzer is a name practically synonymous

with jukeboxes, and many other finely restored

examples changed hands that day. Top achiev-

ers included a Model 1100, made in 1948

($13,800); a colorful Victory Cabinet machine,

made sometime during World War II

    ($10,350); a colorful Model 1050, manufac-

    tured circa 1973-74 ($6,325); and a stately

    looking Model 24, made in 1938 ($5,175).

Rock-Olas also did well. The same bidder who

scored the 1940 Gabel Kuro also purchased a

tall and handsome Rock-Ola Spectrovox, made

    in 1941, for $34,500. Also, 10-12 Rock-Olawoodies (so-named because of their rich,

wood-grain cabinets) included a Model RM-

    16, made in 1937; a Model B, made in 1936;

and a Model RK-12 Rhythm King, made in

    1937. These brought $2,875-$8,625 each.

    A Rock-Ola Model 1428, the Christmas Tree

model, made in 1948, climbed to $6,612, while

    a Rock-Ola Model 1422, made in 1946,

coasted to $7,475. Three Seeburg trash cans

(named for their shape Models 146 from

    1946, 147 from 1947 and 148 from 1948)

garnered $2,070-$3,450 each. Also, a Seeburg

Model V-200, made in 1950 and with a 200-disc storage capacity, hit $5,462, a record.

A Seeburg Model W-100, the first jukebox

with a light-up pilaster made of fiberglass, de-

manded $6,900; a John Gabel Rainbow

model, made in 1938, changed hands for

$18,975; a Capehart machine made in 1935 re-

alized $4,025; an AMI Top Flight model,

    $3,450 each.

One of the more curious items in the sale was

a Strike Up the Band band-box, a clever

plug-in novelty item that sits atop a jukebox.

When the music begins to play, the curtain to

the band-box opens, revealing a Lawrence

    W e l k - s t y l e

    band that ap-

    pears to be

    playing along

    with the

    music. Then,

    when the song

    ends, the mu-

    sicians stop

playing, too, and the curtain is drawn closed.

    The novelty sold for $6,325.

    Antique music boxes in-

    cluded a 27-inch mahogany

    Regina changer ($17,250);

Rezko's Wilmette Mansion Sells at Auction

Once the site of fund-raisers for politicians in-

cluding now president Barack Obama and

then-Gov. Rod Blagojevich, the Wilmette man-

sion of convicted businessman Tony Rezko has

    sold at auction.

Bank of America, the mortgage holder that won

a foreclosure judgment on Rezko's defaulted$5.9 million note auctioned the opulent, two-

story, 8,400-square-foot home for $2.8 million

    dollars.

Rezko, a real estate developer and fast-food

magnate, took out the loan for the home at

1250 Chestnut in Wilmette in September 2003.

In September 2006, the former Blagojevich ad-

viser stopped paying the mortgage, Bank of

    America said.

Rezko was indicted on wide-ranging charges

of public corruption involving state deals in

October 2006 and was convicted in June 2008.

Rezko, who remains in federal custody has told

    the federal court he's broke.

Legal expenses and other costs reportedly have

exhausted the millions of dollars he made in

real estate and investments, including Papa

John's and Panda Express restaurant franchises.
