    Approach Congratulations! You have already worked through the first few SolidWorks tuto-rials, so you already have some understanding of SolidWorks. In order to really getto know the program, it is important that you practice a lot! That is why we have putthis bundle together. You now have a large number of exercises to help you becomefamiliar with SolidWorks.The best idea is to do the relevant exercises from this bundle every time you havecompleted a SolidWorks tutorial. You can then put what you have learnt into prac-tice straight away.The exercises you are going to do depend on each other. This means that: you maymake an axle in the exercises for tutorial one, another part in tutorial 3 and then putthem together in an assembly in tutorial 7. It is therefore very important that yousave everything that you make (parts, assemblies and drawings)! Create a newfolder for this purpose. You could call this folder SolidWorks exercises, for ex-ample. Always give the file the same name as the exercise (for example: Exercise1-1sldprt).Most of the exercises do not have an explanation. You should be able to model thepart using the drawing.

    3D CAD is an indispensable part of todays technicalworld. Whether you specialize in the field of mechan-ical engineering, metal, metal electronics, industrialproduct design or car engineering: 3D CAD is the toolfor todays designers and engineers.In the Benelux countries, SolidWorks is the mostpopular 3D CAD software on the market. User requirements are always included inthe software in the annual updates, which leads to anannual extension of functionality, but also to optimiza-tion of existing functions in the software.

    For the lecturer, SolidWorks means choosing a user-friendly piece of software that pupils or students canmaster quickly. This in-creases the motivation to learn how to use Solid-Works even more.A Student Kit is available to make SolidWorks eveneasier to use. All students following a course thatuses SolidWorks can download the Student Kit forfree. The Student Kit is a full version of SolidWorksthat may only be used for educational purposes. Yourlecturer will provide you with the information neededto download the Student Kit.

    For the IT department, choosing SolidWorks meansthat investments in new computers can be post-

    poned, as SolidWorks has relatively modest hard-ware requirements. SolidWorks is very simple to in-stall and manage in a network environment, thanks tothe use of network licenses, among other things.Should you still experience problems, our qualifiedhelp desk team will get you back on track quickly.

    CertificationWhen you have mastered SolidWorks sufficiently,you can take the CSWA exam. CSWA is short forCertified SolidWorks Associate. On successful com-pletion of the exam, you will be awarded a certificate,which you can use to show that you have masteredSolidWorks sufficiently. This is useful when applyingfor jobs or internships.After working through this series of tutorials for juniorand senior secondary technical education, you willhave sufficient knowledge of SolidWorks to take theCSWA exam.
