HELP WITH FEES: For some examination/computer/leisure courses fees are waived if you receive a work related benefit as listed below. You will need to provide proof of this at enrolment, with your payment book, your Giro (or a photocopy), proof of payment into a bank account, or an appropriate letter from the agency awarding you the benefit. A small refundable deposit will be required – check for details. *To find out if the course you have chosen is eligible for free tuition, please refer to the fees list.
Examination/ICT courses: If you are entitled to free tuition, you will be asked to complete a short Learner Support Form—this will cover examination/registration fees necessary to complete your course. Leisure courses are in two categories: Local Authority Programme (LAP) and Aquinas Community Learning (ACL). If you are entitled to fee reduction (as detailed in the list above), fees will only be reduced for a course listed in the LAP (Local Authority Programme). OTHER COSTS: On some courses, i.e. Painting/Sculpture, you will be required to pay additional costs for items such as materials. Please ask about these when you enrol. PAYING FOR YOUR COURSE: Most courses require full payment in advance. However courses which cost £200 or more can be paid for by placing a 50% deposit at enrolment and the balance by standing order over 2 or 3 months (please ask for details when you enrol ~ or if enrolling remember to bring your bank details and your deposit).

Past student comments and a pictorial insight into Aquinas College Adult Centre
Student comments: English GCSE: The teaching and the college is of a high standard My teacher is very helpful and makes the course easier for me
Photography: I have learnt so much on this course not only about my camera settings but also about learning to see through the lens to get the best photograph.
Italian Beginners: Thoroughly enjoyable – learning at a comfortable pace – good sized classes
Yoga: Our teacher is fantastic – it is a pleasure to come to her classes every week. Wonderful tutor; feels like 1:1 rather than a group; felt the benefits from week one.
Student comments:
Numeracy: Since being on this course, I have learnt quite a lot. It’s very nice to have someone who doesn’t put you down and explains what you have done wrong and not make you feel stupid. Has been a great place to learn.
Legal Secretaries Level 2: I thoroughly enjoy the course – the venue was fantastic and the other students are great. The teaching staff are very helpful and friendly. It’s certainly a challenge but I’ve had really good support.
Facilities available at Aquinas College Adult Centre and St. Bernadette’s Centre
PLEASE NOTE: The Adult Centre will not escape the effects of a ‘squeezed’ budget next year and in 2012‐13/2013‐14. From September 2011 we will need to use the building more efficiently to reduce energy and security costs. This means, for example, that classes will be located nearer the East (car park) entrance of the college. The West (A6) end of the college including the entrance will be closed.
All the courses shown on this brochure are subject to a minimum number of enrolled students and will only take place if this number is reached. We do not guarantee continuation or higher levels of courses in future academic years. All details in this brochure were correct at the point of printing.
