Now in its 17th year, TIFF Kids oers young people the opportunity to learn

about cultural perspectives rom around the world through the power o the

moving image.

More than just a day at the movies, TIFF Kids includes two public weekends

for ages three and up, and a two-week-long School Programme for

elementary school students, with a compelling selection o eatures and

shorts on diverse subjects in a variety o genres and styles.

Each School Programme selection comes with a unique teacher resource

designed to support the TIFF Kids experience and extend it to the classroom

by connecting the flms to many aspects o the Ontario Curriculum.

Motion capture is used to create realistic character movement in videogames andflm. In this ull-day workshop, students explore the relationship between live actionand animation, and will receive a 3D printout o their scene two weeks ater thecompletion o the workshop.

Beore there are cameras, projectors or even flm, there must be light. In this hal-day workshop, students head back in time to explore storytelling beore booksand flm, using only movement and a light source to tell stories through shadowpuppetry. Classes will then discover how light works with a projector to transertheir hand-drawn images into short flm sequences.

Join Bryan Smith, an award-winning

filmmaker for the National Geographic

Channel, as he shares stories of high

adventure from his assignments in the

world’s most challenging environments.

For Smith, extreme means “whatever is

scary for you,” and he repeatedly tests his

own limits while using innovative technical

solutions to capture dizzying images. 

National Geographic   magazine photographer Joel Sartore invites

students to think like a photojournalist, and illustrates his stories

with striking and often humorous pictures and video. Whether

being chased by hungry animals or surviving perilous expeditions

in far-flung places, Sartore puts himself at risk to bring readers

and viewers incredible images of a world well worth saving.

Photojournalist Paul Nicklen faces incredible danger in pursuit

of powerful, close-up images of wildlife. In this special program

for students, he’ll share photography and video from his

assignments in the polar regions, detailing animal life cycles,

predator – prey rel ationships, and visible evidence of climate

change and habitat loss .Sign language interpretation is available with two weeks’ notiication.

Proessional Development programme provides educators with the

Greater Toronto Area.

Workshops can be booked or a minimum o 12 participants. Private

flm screenings are also available or a minimum o 30 educators.
