His Excellency H.E Mohamed Khalifa Al Zeyoudi, Director of Human Resources Department and Abdul Aziz Taryam, CEO Advisor and General Manager - Northern Emirates, Etisalat at the telco’s stands on the sidelines of GITEX Technology Week 2015.

distributor for LG’s TV solutions for the hospitality sector.”

El-Tawil says some technology trends such as cloud, Big Data and IoT are quickly gaining traction in the region. “However, we are still in the infrastructure phase of these trends. Mobility is also a big trend, because people in this region are always on the lookout for ways to stay connected at any time, anywhere.”

Unlike other VADs with burgeoning portfolios, Almasa Value Distrubution remains focused on its target segments, with niche offerings. “This is what differentiates us. Instead of trying to sell everything and keep changing our offerings, our strategy is to concentrate on the verticals we deal with, and make

sure that we have right people and skills on board to drive the business forward,”says El-Tawil.

He adds that Almasa has forged channel initiatives with vendor partners, and plans to bring in new products and value-added solutions to the verticals they are currently serving to increase the company’s wallet share. “A lot of our initiatives entail educating the channel on these verticals and the solutions related to this. The sectors that we’ll continue to focus on are retail, hospitality, healthcare and education. We will continue our momentum in these industries. We are also seeing mid-market industries and SMBs doing well in the coming years and we plan to cash in on those segments.”

LG Electronics has launched “the world’s narrowest bezel video wall” at GITEX Technology Week.

In addition to the global launch, LG chose the 35th edition of GITEX Technology Week to unveil its portfolio of display solutions.

The VH7B Direct Backlit LED Display video wall measures 0.9 mm.

“LG is yet again pushing boundaries and raising the bar for video displays with the launch of the world’s narrowest bezel video wall,” said Kevin Cha, President, Middle East & Africa Region LG Electronics.

“LG’s innovating technology comes from market intelligence and understanding what our customers want and resulting in solutions that truly enhance their business models. The global debut of the world’s narrowest bezel video wall at GITEX is testament to this.”

Cha added, “GITEX represents an enormous opportunity to showcase LG’s commercial display products in a highly competitive landscape and in front of a discerning crowd of professionals. This global debut also exemplifies how LG Electronics continues

to deliver on its promise to provide innovations for a better business, with industry leading products catering to the aspirational needs of the modern marketeer.”

The video wall display features LG’s “webOS for Signage” smart platform, which contains built-in high-performance system-on-a-chip (SoC) sync playback that eliminates the need for an external PC or media player to play contents for daisy chain.

F5 Networks has today announced the release of an expansion to its hybrid platform of services.

New innovations make it simple for customers to unify hardware, software, and managed service resources.

BIG-IP version 12.0 takes advantage of F5’s application delivery services fabric, extending the F5 Synthesis model by combining physical and virtual resources to support cloud and hybrid scenarios.

“Organisations are seeking the same confidence level with applications and services in cloud/hybrid deployments that they’ve seen in the data centre,” said Karl Triebes, EVP of Product Development and CTO, F5. “Our BIG-IP software is instrumental in helping

customers take advantage of the benefits of the cloud without sacrificing security, flexibility, or savings. With these new technologies, we’re committed to meeting organisations along whatever path they take in evolving hybrid application delivery environments and incorporating cloud.”

“Microsoft and F5 share many customers. With the growing adoption of Azure among this common customer base, organisations will benefit from the availability of F5’s application services in our marketplace,” said Garth Fort, General Manager of Enterprise Partners, Microsoft. “This

development helps customers best support their cloud-based applications directly within Azure environments.”

BIG-IP virtual edition solutions are becoming available in the Azure Marketplace. Initially, all BIG-IP software modules will be available on Azure through F5’s Good, Better, Best licensing model in a “bring your own license” (BYOL) configuration, with 25 M, 200 M, and 1 G options.

F5 and Microsoft customers will have additional choices in how to optimise their application delivery and cloud technologies in a unified framework.

Saudi Arabian privately-owned conglomerate Al Othman Holding, has used GITEX Technology Week to announce 2015 that it is

working with Avaya to launch a private cloud services model in the Eastern Province of the Kingdom.

The agreement between Avaya and Al Othman-owned systems integrator, SSBS, will make unified communications, video, and contact centre solutions available as-a-service to 19 Group-owned companies across the GCC.

The private cloud will allow support for trends such as BYOD, social media, mobility, video collaboration and more. Members will also have access to Avaya’s SDN Fx networking architecture.

“The Middle East is learning to embrace cloud-based models, with Al Othman Holding leading

aggressively on this trend,” said Mohammed Areff, Vice President, Middle East, Africa, and Turkey, Avaya. “As disruptive technologies like mobility, social media, cloud and Big Data challenge market dynamics, organisations in the Kingdom need to enhance the experiences they deliver to their customers. Avaya private cloud Services can help save capital expenses, improve productivity and simplify transformation to the new cloud technology, making it the perfect solution for us to help continue enabling Al Othman’s effortless digital transformation and helping them to achieve their business outcomes today and in

the future.” “The mobility and collaboration

experiences that Avaya’s solutions offer are transforming team engagement and decision-making, enabling us to deliver real-time collaboration across a wide geographic area, and enhancing response times,” said AbdulRahman Al-Othman, Sales and Marketing Director, Systems of Strategic Business Solutions (SBSS). “With Avaya Private Cloud Services, organizations can take away the trouble of finding the right technology partners, and address deployment and maintenance issues, while ensuring a very high level of services delivery.”

Value added distributor FVC has expanded its IT Infrastructure & Security (ITIS) portfolio with the addition of a distribution agreement with BeyondTrust.

The agreement covers the

Middle East; East & West Africa; French-speaking Africa, Levant regions; and “offers the BeyondTrust approach” to enterprise security and compliance: managing the data, privileges and vulnerabilities throughout the IT environment.

Harsh Thakkar, General Manager, ITIS Division, FVC, said, “As enterprises continue to invest in new technology to deliver on new platforms, security dominates these processes and it is important for us, as a progressive VAD, to evolve and expand our portfolio to deliver technologies that can help

our partners and customers provide secure platforms. Our partnership with BeyondTrust fills this requirement. BeyondTrust solutions provide tremendous value for those in IT, security and operational roles.”

“In recent years, BeyondTrust has seen significant growth in the deployment of our privileged account management (PAM) and vulnerability solutions across the enterprise space in the Middle East,” John Andrews, Director for Strategic Alliances and Channels, BeyondTrust. “This business has always been and continues to be supported 100% by our

reseller and system integrator partners. We are a 100 percent channel-focused organisation. What did become apparent was that we needed a true value added distribution partner to help support the existing channel and also grow that breadth in geo and vertical alignment with our business model. The discussion around PAM and vulnerability, requires a distributor like FVC with the engineering capabilities to articulate and deliver that clearly to the channel. There are very few players in the market who offer that level of value add, where we need it most.”
