    OPEN PUBLIC MEETING STATEMENT:

    This meeting is being held in conformity to the Open Public Meetings Act N.J.S.A. 10:4-6 et. seq. Properpublic notice of the meeting was published in the local papers on May 5 and May 6, 2012.

    If any Board member or member of the public in attendance believes that the meeting is in violation ofthe Open Public Meetings Act, the Hoboken Board of Education requests that they make a statement atthis time.

    The Board wishes to make those in attendance aware that this meeting is being recorded on video and willbe broadcast by the Board at a later date on CATV Channel 77.

    The Hoboken Board of Education is committed to preserving the decorum of the public process and ismindful that we live in the electronic age of computers, cell phones and other electronic communicationsdevices.     RESOLVED, that the Board of Education, upon recommendation of the Superintendent, approves thefollowing workshops:

    WHEREAS, N.J.A.C. 6A:23B-1.1 et. seq. requires that each board of education adopt a formal policyand procedures relating to travel and expense reimbursement for its employees and board members; and

    WHEREAS, the School District of the Hoboken Board of Education (the Board) adopted aTravel Expense Reimbursement Policy that addresses the reimbursement of travel-relatedexpenses by Board members and employees of the District; and

    WHEREAS, the Board has considered all other relevant guidelines and circulars associated withthe adoption of its Travel Expense Reimbursement Policy; and

    WHEREAS, the Board has determined that the travel listed in this Resolution is educationallynecessary and fiscally prudent; and

    WHEREAS, the Board has concluded that the travel and expense reimbursement listed in thisResolution are directly related to and within the scope of the employees current responsibilities;and

    WHEREAS, the Board has determined that the travel and expense reimbursements listed in thisResolution are for travel that promotes the delivery of instruction or furthers the efficientoperation of the school district; and

    WHEREAS, the Board has concluded that the travel and expense reimbursement listed in thisResolution are in compliance with State travel reimbursement guidelines as established by theDepartment of Treasury and incorporated herein;

    WHEREAS, the New Jersey Department of Education did request that the proposed budget for the 2012-2013 fiscal year be amended to add $428,265 in unexpended 2010-2011 pre-school education funds to theproposed budget for 2012-2013 thereby increasing the total appropriations from $62,101,247 to$62,529,512, and

    WHEREAS, the Board of Education has amended its proposed budget for the school year beginning July1, 2012 and ending June 30, 2013 and has estimated the sum of $62,529,512 to be necessary for theoperation and maintenance of the public schools of the School District of the City of Hoboken for theschool year 2012-2013, and

    RESOLVED, that there should be raised via taxation for General Fund $36,479,095 for the ensuingschool year 2012-2013.
