It is notified for general information that General Order 03203 was inadvertently omitted from the

a@imexure to Circular A.18/1959. It should be included as follows :-—

“General Order 03203.—Expatriates. An expatriate woman officer who marries must resign her

appointmentand shall by marrying be deemed to have done so with effect from the day immediately

preceding the marriage. She must notify her marriage (and in effect her resignation) to her Head of

Department who will thereupon notify the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Pensions, the Accountant-General and the Director of Federal Audit. '

In notifying the Ministry of Pensions the Head of Department may recommend that the officer be

re-engaged on temporaryagreement, without expatriation pay, with effect from the date of hermarriage

until such time as a replacement can be found or the officer proceeds on vacation leave (whichever is

the sooner). If re-engagementon this basis is approved the salary of the officer for the period of her

engagement will be the samebasic salary, with incremental dateunchanged, as she enjoyed prior. tomarriage.” i

Scale ofsalary.—Group 8 (Pensionable),—£1,500-1,560-1,620 -or a contract salary of £1,650-1,716,1,782. Inducement addition of £300 per annumwould be payable in addition to an expatriate whowould only be appointed on contract.

Qualifications—(a) A University degree plusat least six years’ suitable experience in publicitywork, journalism broadcasting or public relationwork3 : mo

(6) United Kingdom Diploma in Journalism(or equivalent qualification) plus ten years’ suitableinformation or publication experience, at least: sevenof which must be post-qualification experience; or

(c) In exceptional cases, consideration may begiven to a candidate who does not possess theacademic or professional qualifications mentionedabove but has attained a high standard of proficiencyin English, provided he has at least fifteen years’ .suitable experience in a senior position in an informa-tion or public relations organisation with experiencein the handling of modern publicity media. Candi-dates mustalso have ability to control staff. Journa-listic experience would be an advantage but is notessential. For expatriate candidates, overseas experi-ence, particularly in Africa, would be an advantage.

Duties-——Theofficer appointed will be responsiblefor Government publicity in Nigeria, liaison withoverseas publicity agents, the production of bookletsand. periodicals and in addition, will be required

- to devote considerable time to training staff in allaspects of information work.

Other conditions of service-—(i) Appointment oncontract will be for two tours of approximatelyeighteen monthseachin thefirst instance ;

(it) Rent is payable at the rate of 84 per cent ofbasic salary, subject toa maximum of £150 perannum when an officer is occupying quarters;Quarters with hard furnishings are provided forexpatriateofficers ;
