When you add or subtract matrices, just combine the elements that are in the same place.

Since 3 and 4 are in the same position of each matrix (top left corner), youadd them together to get the 7. Do the other numbers in the same way.

Do the same thing if you subtract, but remember to DISTRIBUTE THE NEGATIVE!

Example:

Distribute the negative to each number inthe matrix after the negative.Change the minus in the middle to PLUS!

Remember that two negativesmake a positive.

One last thing to remember:You can NOT add or subtract matrices that

are different sizes.
