VLAB Party Mission - 2010

DESCRIPTION

I was the chair of the MIT/Stanford Venture Labs' 20th Anniversary Party. It was a great experience helping celebrate this entrepreneurship non-profit's celebrations, and I learned a lot about getting a lot of smart people to work together! Although none of my proposals succeeded, it was nice to shake things up. I took a stronger leadership role instead of being directed as the Chair, balancing a lack of experience with the wisdom to know that a lot of opinions can make some wacky soup. I attempted to create a more flavorful soup. I introduced the committees to Make magazine, was rescued by the venue in the end, and had some great fun.

Mission

Page 3: VLAB Party Mission - 2010

VLAB is a network of human beings who make innovation happen in Silicon Valley.

Page 4: VLAB Party Mission - 2010

The Panels are only one part of the story.

Page 5: VLAB Party Mission - 2010

The panel events are the most visible to our guests.

Page 6: VLAB Party Mission - 2010

However, there are the conversations that are not immediately visible.

Page 7: VLAB Party Mission - 2010

Let’s make the people & processes visible at the VLAB party.

Page 8: VLAB Party Mission - 2010

It’s here that abstract ideas are voiced and relationships that are formed.

Page 9: VLAB Party Mission - 2010

And it’s only through human networking that start-ups are created.

Page 10: VLAB Party Mission - 2010

This is how start-ups become a reality.
