• The TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP program is divided into three major parts:-

• The first part presents conceptual overview of Leadership

• The second part presents an outline of the Characteristics and attribute of Transformational Leadership

• The third and Final part to discussing issues related to building leadership

Transformational leadership

• Transformational leadership is defined as a leadership approach that causes change in individuals and social systems. In its ideal form, it creates valuable and positive change in the followers with the end goal of developing followers into leaders.

• Kepimpinan transformational didefinisikan sebagai pendekatan kepimpinan yang membawa perubahan kepada individu dan sistem sosial. Di dalam bentuk paling ideal ianya membawa perubahan positif dan bernilai kepada pengikut dengan matlamat akhirnya ialah membangun pengikut menjadi pempimpin.

Transformational leadership

• James MacGregor Burns (1978)[1] first introduced the concept of transforming leadership in his descriptive research on political leaders, but this term is now used in organizational psychology as well.

• Konsep Transformational Leadership mula diperkenalkan oleh James MacGregor Burns 1978 , di dalam menghuraikan tentang kepimpinan politik dan kini terma ini juga digunakan didalam terma psikologi organisasi.

• According to Burns, transforming leadership is a process in which "leaders and followers help each other to advance to a higher level of morale and motivation".

• Mengikut Burn Kepimpian Perubahan ialah proses dimana “ Pemimpin dan pengikut membantu satu sama laian untuk terus maju ke tahap yang lebih tinggi dari segi morale dan motivasi,

to the mission and the collective identity of the organization; being a role model for followers that inspires them; challenging followers to take greater ownership for their work, and understanding the strengths and weaknesses of followers, so the leader can align followers with tasks that optimize their performanec.

• Ini termasuk menghubungkan identiti diri dengan misi dan identiti kolektif organisasi; ianya menjadi model contoh kepada pengikut seterusnya dapat mendorong mereka, mencabar pengikut untuk mengambil hak milik kepada tugasan serta memahami akan kekuatan dan kelemahan pengikut, untuk mengoptimakan prestasi.

Do people believe that you are willing to sacrifice your own self-interest for the good of the group?

Do people believe that you want to hear their ideas and will value them? Do people believe that you will understand what is happening in their lives

and how it affects them. Do people come to you when the chips are down or when something

traumatic has happened in their lives? Do others believe that you have a strong awareness for what’s going on ? Do others follow your request because they want to as opposed to

because “they have too?” Do other communicate their ideas and vision for the organization when

you are around? Do others have confidence in your ability to anticipate the future and its

consequences? Do others believe you are preparing the organization to make a positive

difference in the world? Do others believe that you are committed to helping the develop and

grow? Do people feel a strong sense of community in the organization that you

Empat Dimensi Transformational Leadership

• The four dimensions of transformational leadership are: Charisma or idealized influence, Inspirational motivation, Intellectual stimulation, and Individualized consideration

• Empat dimensi transformational leadership ialah: bekarisma atau pengaruh yang ideal, motivasi “inspirational” dan mengambil kira ciri-ciri individu.
