What is Organ donationWhat is Organ donation?

• Organ donation is the process of removing tissues or organs from a live, or recently dead, person to be used in another.

* The former is the donor and the latter is the recipient.

* People of all ages can become donors.• First organ transplant was on December 23 1954• Organ transplantation day Aug 13

* Some organs can be donated by a living person.

* Almost all organs can be donated by someone dead but this has to reach the recipient within a few hours after the donor's death.

*In case of live donation the donor should give his consent .

*In case of cadaver donation, relatives need to provide consent.

than 50 people.Almost anyone can be an organ donor, regardless of age or

medical history.Donors can still have open casket funerals, and organ

donation doesn't cost the donor's family any money.If a person is hospitalized, the medical staff provides the best

possible care, regardless of organ donor status. Donation is only considered after a patient has died.
