the start of the cinema.

US david griffith brought a narrative to cinema, giving his films a
controversial aspect compared to other directors at the time. In
his film Birth of a Nation in between scenes there is an interlude
to explain the story or scene because there was no audio in the
films. 4. This is Griffiths most recognised filmBirth of a Nation a
very controversialfilm due to its very racist storyline. Itwas
complained about by many differentagencys, in response to all the
negativefeedback he released Intolerance a yearlater, which did not
do as wellfiniancially but was praised by thecritics. 5. Sergei
Eisenstein0 A Russian director & film theorist who was around
the same sort of time as D.W Griffiths so created silent movies, he
also made historical films such as Ivan the Terrible 6. Sergei
Eisenstein was well known forhis use and knowledge of themontage,
throughout many of hisfilms the montage was used at somepoint. 7.
David Fincher0 An American director of this age unlike the other
directors which have changed the way in which editing and films are
produced. Fincher is well known for his distinctive editing styles.

practically anything with the way in which technology and the
editing software has advanced.
