Poster Tools Used

Background Image:1. I firstly began by opening up Photoshop and setting the canvas to A4 and international paper.

2. I then placed the image which I had saved within the document, I did this by going into file>place>and selecting the document

3. Once the document had been placed I set the picture to greyscale I did this by going into image>mode>greyscale. I then duplicated the layer to ensure that the effect which I was going to input was able to be clearly viewed.

4. After doing this I found that this effect was not dark enough to portray the result which I was looking for. I therefore found that I needed to add another effect to the image, by looking through each effect I decided that “Multiply”

5. Looking at the image I found that the edges of the images were still too light therefore to do this I used the gradient tool and set the opacity to 87% so the gradient was still recognisable.

6. Once the image was finalised I found it was appropriate to lock the layer so it could not move.7. I then flattened the images so all the layers will appear in one.

Title:8. I then needed to insert and create the title, to do this I used the text tool. Selecting the text tool

I typed in the title of the film “Woodend”

9. I then changed the font to Myriad Pro and colour a deep red.

10. To make the font contribute to the horror effect given I decided to mimic the effect of blood dripping by using the smudge tool

11. Next I chose to add a shadow and a slight stroke to the picture, to do I double clicked the text layer and firstly went into the drop shadow which appeared in the new window on the side, I set the drop shadow to an opacity of 80%, the distance to 20px, spread to 1% and size to 3px.

Advertisement:12. I then inserted the ‘advertisement’ above the title, to do so I used the same text tool and typed

in “from the producers of parkside poltergeist”

13. Once this was done I changed the font to Trajan pro and the colour to white

14. I then found that the font looked quite plain therefore I found it was appropriate to add a slight drop shadow. To do this I followed the same steps as before by double clicking the layer and adding the drop shadow at an opacity of 75%

15. Finally I placed this text above the title and centred it so it did not look out of place.

Credits:16. To create the credits which were inserted within the poster I began by once again selecting the

text tool and entering all of the information regarding the credits.

17. I then changed the font so it was consistent to the advertisement and title, also changing the colour to white ensuring that it could be visible over the black background. I did not feel it was essential to add a drop shadow as it was the credits.

18. I edited the font to Trajan pro this was so it did not overpower the page and the attention was kept on the image and title and left the size at 24

19. However I reduced the size of the words excluding the names to 12 I did this as it was a common convention used in horror poster credits

Sponsors:20. When looking to improve my poster I found that it looked quite empty, therefore I researched

into other posters and features included within this.21. I decided to place an image onto the page of a range of sponsors, I cropped this image so it was

only the first three logos.

22. However the logos themselves were black and the background was white, inserting this onto my poster made it look very unprofessional, to resolve this I opened this into a new document and inverted the colours.

23. To remove the background I used the magic wand tool to remove this.
