• Literacy center and Writers Workshop
Reading Centers• During this center we will be learning about our letters and. Also,
we will learn how each letter should sound/look and as each group masters those topics we will move on to learning how to read. Once each of you finish kindergarten you will be reading like a pro!!! Aren’t you so excited for Reading!!!
Math Centers• We will start out with the
numbers 0-10 and as we learn these we will move on until we get to 120. We will learn how to spell, write, say, identify all of the numbers. Also, we will learn about shapes, money, greater or less than, word problems and addition and subtraction. Each of you will be ready for First grade when we finish at the end of the year!!!! I can’t wait to get started and watch each of you grow throughout the year!!!!
Whole Group• During whole group we will all be learning new things as a class.
Anytime we start something new I will introduce it during: morning meeting, songs/videos, and during whole group. We will all work together, listening to the teacher to so we won’t miss anything important. Whole group is such an important time for us and we will learn it in a way that will be so fun and easy to remember!!!!
Art Centers• During our art centers we will be
doing cute projects that will be displayed in the hall or go home to your parents so they can see how well you follow directions to create a beautiful piece of art. We will be doing art that goes along with what we are covering at the time. My favorite art project is the self portrait and you will always know how to create a portrait of yourself or of someone else!!! Remember to always work hard and do your best!!!
Social Studies/Science
• Over the course of the year we will get to see how a butterfly grows. We will get to see it come out of its cocoon and we can then release them outside. It is so exciting to see them change from day to day. Also we will learn about space, presidents, oceans and animals. All of these different topics are so exciting to learn about and they will teach you a little bit about how our world works from along time ago up until how things work today!!!!
Listening Centers• Our listening centers are a fun
time where we get to listen to stories about our different topics we will cover. We will then get to go back to our desk and color a picture of our favorite part of the story. Later, as we get better with our writing we can start to write a story about what happened! This is a good time so show off your coloring and writing skills!!!!
Writers Workshopand
Literacy• During writers workshop we will be creating pictures
that are labeled telling us what we are doing and later writing stories. Our stories will be on something that you are telling us about and we will also get to teach each other how to do something through our writing!!! Even when we do whole group we will get to write about so many different things and we can then put them outside our room with our art work!!!!
Field Trips• Throughout the year we will go on two field trips! The trips will be to the
Pumpkin Patch and the other will be to the Children’s Museum.
• At the Pumpkin Patch we will get to tour the grounds that will have different animals there and we get to pick our very own pumpkin to take home! At the end, we will get to have a picnic with all the other Kindergarten classes.
• The Children's Museum is a trip that you parents can attend and you get to go look around with them or with the teacher. Also, at the end we will get to have a picnic and play on the playground.
• Throughout the year, we will also have other events like Barnyard Bash, 100th Day of School and Splash Day.
