News from the Port Hardy Inn
Preparations are underway for the 2015 tourist season here at
the Port Hardy Inn. We've painted, the new beds have arrived with the new sheets, and we've got a BIG SIGN! If you haven't seen it come take a look at the four way stop by the hotel.
The ladies in housekeeping have been hard at work getting everything spic and span. Cleaning up the mess after all of the work that's been done to the building was a major project and they kicked butt!
We would like to take this time to say thanks to everyone who has helped out getting the hotel ready for this summer, we couldn't have done it without you. We are all excited for this summer and can't wait to show you what the new hotel will do for the community! We've also set aside a room for the Nakwakto Rapids Tours and Gift Shop right off the main lobby. Here you'll be able to find authentic gifts from our culture. You'll also be able to book a trip, with the gift shop staff, into our beautiful traditional home lands. The Nakwakto Rapids Tours are about 4 hours long, We Explore the world's fastest navigable tidal rapids and surrounding wilderness in the company of Native Cultural guides from the Gwa'sala and 'Nakwaxda'xw Nations. We are also starting a wildlife/ culture tour this year while the rapids aren't running. We are super excited because we are booking up fast, If you like more information about the tours check out our website

Cheers from the team at the Port Hardy Inn

Hello Everyone!
Just a little update on the Food Security and Nutrition programs.
A huge thank you to Silena George and Cassidy Walkus for all your help
with the Good Food Bag Program every other week!
What is the ‘Good Food Bag’ Program?
The Good Food Bag program makes wholesome produce more affordable
to community members. Each bag contains fresh fruits, vegetables and
ingredients for a healthy recipe at the cost of only $10.00. It also has a
calendar showing sign up cut off and pick up dates inside. You can sign
up for a bag at the band office but be quick as we only accept the first 30
people!
Just a reminder that your bag has to be picked up on the pick up date
otherwise it will be given to someone else as it can go bad over the
weekend.
What else is going on?
I have been assisting Silena with elders programs at the elders building
every week. I have been getting ready to start planting in the
community garden as well as starting the composting program.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me!
