August 2018
Saturday August 25th at 8:30 am
(Independence & Kansas City, MO)
ZOO OUTINGZOO OUTING: Penguin March & Stingray Bay!: Penguin March & Stingray Bay!
Join us at the Kansas City Zoo to see a rare treat
of the Humboldt Penguins and their monthly march
around the Helzberg Penguin Plaza at the zoo. As
part of keeping up the traditional migratory instincts
of these aquatic flightless fowl every month the zoo
takes the penguins for a group walk around the
plaza to flex some of their traditional tendencies. It
is an amazing experience to have the penguins
walking in a synchronized group that in the wild
would range to flocks in a couple hundred
thousand or more. In addition to the March of the
Penguins we will be visiting the newest addition
from the Helzberg family at the zoo, the Stingray
Bay open-air aquarium that allows for you to pet
and feed the stingrays as they swim about. These
two personal interactive experiences are a rare treat
to do at two separate occasions let alone all in the
same day! Admission to the zoo is $15.00 per person
and includes all exhibits park wide. Additional
transportation packages can be purchased for a few
dollars more which will provide transportation on
the train, tram, and sky safari. Prior to our trip to the
zoo we will be having breakfast at First Watch in
Independence to enjoy a delicious farm-to-table
breakfast. Take this opportunity to join us for a fun-
filled summer outing and hands-on animal
experience at the Kansas City Zoo.
THRIVING | WELLNESS CORNER | CHEF'S CHOICE | MONTHLY CALENDAR
SPECIAL EVENTS | THE BUZZ | OUT AND ABOUT AND MUCH MORE!
Taking the community by storm we
have seen this busy bee working
her way up and down the hallways
cleaning rooms, sweeping halls,
and cleaning bathrooms, but it is
more than just her polished floors
or her glimmering windows and
mirrors that capture a luminous
reflection. In fact, set aside the
wonderful job that she does what is
more notable is her cheerful
disposition, her joyful jump to say hello, and her all about beaming
radiant smile! If you haven't had the pleasure of meeting Mrs.
Janae Johnson, then let us formally introduce one of our newest
Housekeeping Associates. Our lovable housekeeper brings fresh
scents to the apartments and community, but most captivating is
her smile, and its ability to return the same response on the faces
of everyone she meets. It is without doubt that she take great pride
in what she does, but has a compassionate heart too. She would
undoubtedly say that this is attributed to her upbringing in the
little-big city of Des Moines, Iowa...from which Janae originally
hails. In just the short while that you have been hear with us at
The Fountains of Greenbriar you have become a resounding
murmur on the tongues of many delighted Residents and
Associates. We embrace Janae's jovial spirit and thoroughly enjoy
seeing her thriving disposition for her job well-done! Her
enthusiasm for ensuring that our Resident and her fellow
Associates are positively affected by her presence is without doubt
her contributing success to our community and thriving for all. For
this we would like to recognize Mrs. Janae Johnson. Kudos!

Mama Mia...here we go again! In fact, we will be

Theatre Restaurant in Overland Park, KS. This play
follows the original story of Donna, an independent
hotelier in the Greek islands, who is preparing for her
daughter's wedding with the help of two old friends.
Meanwhile Sophie, the spirited bride, has a plan. She
secretly invites three men from her mother's past in
hope of meeting her real father and having him escort
her down the aisle on her big day. Tickets for this
event are sold out. We would like to encourage those
attending to meet us in the lobby by 10:15 am.
Thanks!
