Study Abroad at Texas Tech
Who should study abroad? Everyone!! Must be at least 18 years old
Must be a sophomore or above by semesters, not credits
Must have a 2.5 GPA – business students must have 2.75
Must be in good disciplinary standing with TTU
What can TTU students study abroad? Almost anything!!
Courses available in virtually every field of study
Courses may satisfy core, major and minor requirements
Research and internships available, too!
TTU language requirement
Students in the following colleges/programs:
• Arts & Sciences
• International Business
• Mass Communications
• Some in Visual and Performing Arts
Requirement is 12 – 16 credit hours
Intensive Language Programs
Arabic Cairo and Alexandria, Egypt Fez, Morocco
Chinese Beijing and Shanghai, China
French Paris, France Grenoble, France
Italian Florence, Italy Rome, Italy Tuscania, Italy
Russian
Moscow, Russia
Spanish TTU Center Seville, Spain Other Spanish cities
San José, Costa Rica Buenos Aires, Argentina Valparaíso, Chile
Study Abroad Opportunities at Texas Tech Faculty-Led Programs Short-term programs taught
by TTU faculty, usually in the summer
TTU tuition + program fee
TTU Center in Seville, Spain Semester language immersion
programs Courses taught by TTU faculty TTU tuition + program fee

Affiliated & Reciprocal Exchange Programs Programs in more than 80 countries with courses in every discipline
Fellow students not necessarily from TTU

How does academic credit work?
Credit is pre-approved
Faculty-led, TTU Centers and Exchange programs are TTU credit
Affiliate programs are transfer credit

Is it safe to study abroad? Security situation constantly monitored using State Department updates
Host families thoroughly vetted

When can TTU students go abroad? Almost anytime!!
Must be at least a sophomore
Earlier is better than later
Academic advisors can help plan the best time to go
Studying abroad during last 30 hours requires approval from Dean of College
How much does it cost? Depends on program & location
Be sure to compare study abroad costs to total Lubbock costs (~$10,000 per semester)
Shorter Programs = Lower Costs
Semester and year-long programs can be more cost effective
How can TTU students pay for Study Abroad?
