come and receive communion or laying-on-of-hands for healing, should you want to, then do please notify our sides-people, and we will come to you.

THE SERMON

THE AFFIRMATION OF FAITH

All We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried.


On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

We praise and bless you, loving Father, through Jesus Christ, our Lord; and as we obey his command, send your Holy Spirit, that broken bread and wine outpoured may be for us the body and blood of your dear Son.

On the night before he died he had supper with his friends and, taking bread, he praised you. He broke the bread, gave it to them and said: Take, eat; this is my body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of me.

So, Father, we remember all that Jesus did, in him we plead with confidence his sacrifice made once for all upon the cross. Bringing before you the bread of life and cup of salvation, we proclaim his death and resurrection until he comes in glory.

The Breaking of the BreadThe Priest breaks the consecrated bread

We break this bread to share in the body of Christ.All Though we are many, we are one body,

because we all share in one bread.

The Giving of CommunionJesus is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. Blessed are those who are called to his supper.


All Lord, I am not worthy to receive you, but only say the word and I shall be healed.

Draw near with faith. Receive the body of our Lord Jesus Christ which he gave for you, and his blood which he shed for you. Eat and drink in remembrance that he died for you, and feed on him in your hearts by faith with thanksgiving.

All We do not presume to come to this your table, merciful Lord, trusting in our own righteousness, but in your manifold and great mercies. We are not worthy so much as to gather up the crumbs under your table. But you are the same Lord whose nature is always to have mercy. Grant us therefore, gracious Lord, so to eat the flesh of your dear Son Jesus Christ and to drink his blood, that our sinful bodies may be made clean by his body and our souls washed through his most precious blood, and that we may evermore dwell in him and he in us. Amen.

All are welcome to either come and receive Communion or a blessing.

Laying on of hands for healing is offered in the south aisle chapel during the distribution of communion. This ministry is offered for your own

needs or for someone who maybe on your heart and mind at this time.


Those who are going into hospital in the coming week, or for some other reason, and who would like to be anointed with oil of healing and prayed for by a priest please do have a word with a priest after the service – they

will gladly offer you this ministry.

The report of the Ifield and Crawley Review was published earlier this month and at a meeting held a couple of weeks ago with the Bishop and Archdeacon of Horsham the PCC agreed with the recommendations of the review to split Ifield parish into two parishes (Ifield and Langley Green making one parish and Gossops Green and Bewbush the other). The full report can be found on the Ifield Parish website (http://ifieldparish.org/parish-news) and a letter from the Team Rector giving a more detailed account of the process and findings is available in church.

During Lent we have services of Compline on Wednesday evenings at 8pm. This year the clergy will be sharing their stories of faith. On Wednesday 17th February the service is at St Alban’s and Revd Gerry Burgess will be the speaker.

Our new architect, at the direction of St Margaret’s DCC, has produced some initial draft schemes for a much needed extension to St Margaret’s Church. This is a long term project for us as a

church which begins with us having a vision for what we would like any extension to do and be. Please do have a look at the three schemes – they are on display at the back of the South aisle – and prayerfully answer the three questions asked about them. Your thoughts will be invaluable in helping your DCC and our architect to progress a scheme for further reflection and planning.

Living Like a Refugee Lent daily devotions- We are currently all so aware of the plight of refugees from the Middle East. Open Doors has prepared a six week daily devotion guide (with prayers and stories from the persecuted church) to help us gain a better understanding of what it's like to live like a refugee. If you would like to use this during Lent (or at any other time) you will find copies on the mission table at the back of church. This year’s Lent Quiet Day will be on Saturday 20th February at Crawley Down Monastery (10am – 4pm). The day will be led by Fr Colin (the Abbot of the monastery) and will be on the theme of ‘Beautiful Attitudes’. There will be lots of ‘free’ time built into the day so that you can enjoy both the silence and beauty of the Monastery and its grounds. Sunday 29th May – Pillars to Plough charity walk hosted by Ifield Chestnut House. This sponsored walk finishes at the Plough Inn, Ifield and is a real community event. You can opt to walk 5, 10 or 20 miles. The Men’s Fellowship are challenging the SMILE ladies to join them – are you up for this?

'Being There; accompanying those facing death and dying in our congregations and community'. This workshop is being run on Sat 12th March 2016 10 - 12 noon by Rev Lisa Rainier who is the Spiritual Care Lead from St Catherine's Hospice. It will take place at Bewbush Barn. Date For Your Diaries. Ordinations to the priesthood this year will take place over the weekend of the 21st/22nd May. Jamie therefore plans to celebrate the Eucharist for the first time on Saturday 28th May at 6 O’clock. More details of both of these





events will be announced soon, but for now, please do mark them in your diary, and pray for Jamie, and all the deacons, as they prepare for their ordination to the priesthood.

Calling All Artists Whose Christian Faith Inspires Them To Paint! The East Grinstead Deanery Art Exhibition on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd July 2016 will celebrate the work of people of Christian faith who paint. The event will be in the Glebe Centre at Crawley Down.

The art exhibition at the Glebe Centre will bring together artists from across the East Grinstead Deanery who paint as part of their prayer, their worship and expression of their faith. The exhibition is being organised by the Revd Angela Martin, Vicar of Forest Row and the Revd Jon Hale, Vicar of Crawley Down.

The Glebe Centre is at All Saints Church, Vicarage Road, Crawley Down.

Revd Angela said: “Christian faith nurtures and sustains so many people and some express that faith through their art. This exhibition will bring artists together from a wide area, all united by love for the Lord Jesus Christ. Creativity is nurtured and renewed by our spiritual life. When we are creative we engage with God as our creator”.

Revd Jon said: “Praying people express their joy and their sorrow through their paintings. It’s only when I paint that I can express myself fully before God in prayer. I’m delighted that the Glebe Centre will host an exhibition of Christian art”.
