THE GATHERINGWe stand and sing:Hymn 449: Charles Wesley.

LO, HE COMES WITH CLOUDS DESCENDING, once for mortal sinners slain; thousand thousand saints attending swell the triumph of his train. Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Christ appears on earth to reign.

Ev’ry eye shall now behold him, robed in dreadful majesty; we who set at naught and sold him, pierced and nailed him to the tree, deeply grieving, deeply grieving, deeply grieving, shall the true Messiah see.

Those dear tokens of his passion ‘Accept one another for the glory of God, as Christ has accepted you.’

(Romans 15:7)

Yea, amen, let all adore thee, high on thine eternal throne; Saviour, take the pow’r and glory, claim the kingdom for thine own. Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!Thou shalt reign, and though alone.

THE PRAYER OF PREPARATION

All Almighty God, to whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hidden: cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy name; through Christ our Lord. Amen.

PRAYERS OF PENITENCE

‘Accept one another for the glory of God, as Christ has accepted you.’ (Romans 15:7)

Celebrant Our Lord Jesus Christ said: The first commandment is this: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is the only Lord. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength’. The second is this: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself’. There is no other commandment greater than these. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

All Amen. Lord have mercy.

Celebrant God so loved the world that he gave his only Son Jesus Christ to save us from our sins, to be our advocate in heaven, and to bring us to eternal life.Let us confess our sins in penitence and faith, firmly resolved to keep God’s commandments and to live in love and peace with all.

All Most merciful God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, we confess that we have sinned in thought, word and deed. We have not loved you with our whole heart. We have not loved our neighbours as ourselves. In your mercy forgive what we have been, help us to amend what we are, and direct what we shall be; that we may do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with you, our God. Amen

Celebrant Almighty God, who forgives all who truly repent, have mercy upon us, pardon and deliver us from all our sins, confirm and strengthen us in all goodness, and keep us in life eternal; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

All Amen.

‘Accept one another for the glory of God, as Christ has accepted you.’ (Romans 15:7)

WE HAVE A GOSPEL TO PROCLAIM, good news for all though-out the earth; the gospel of a Saviour’s name: we sing his glory, tell his worth.

Tell of his birth at Bethlehem, not in a royal house or hall, but in a stable dark and dim, the Word made flesh, a light for all.

Tell of his death at Calvary, hated by those he came to save;in lonely suff’ring on the cross: for all he loved, his life he gave.

Tell of that glorious Easter morn, empty the tomb, for he was free; he broke the pow’r of death and hell that we might share his victory.

Tell of his reign at God’s right hand, by all creation glorified. He sends his Spirit on his Church to live for him, the Lamb who died.

‘Accept one another for the glory of God, as Christ has accepted you.’ (Romans 15:7)

Page 9: Welcome to St Margaret’s Church Ifield€¦  · Web view4/7/2015 · Word made flesh, a light for all. Tell ... mystic sweet communion . with. ... regardless of whether you have

Now we rejoice to name him King: Jesus is Lord of all the earth. This gospel-message we proclaim: we sing his glory, tell his worth.

Celebrant Yours, Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the splendour, and the majesty; for everything in heaven and on earth is yours.

All All things come from you, and of your own do we give you.

We sit or stand for:The Eucharistic Prayer

Lift up your hearts. All We lift them to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.All It is right to give thanks and praise.Celebrant Father, you made the world and love your creation.

You gave your Son Jesus Christ to be our Saviour. His dying and rising have set us free from sin and death. And so we gladly thank you, with saints and angels praising you, and singing:

We praise and bless you, loving Father, through Jesus Christ, our Lord; and as we obey his command, send your Holy Spirit, that broken bread and wine outpoured may be for us the body and blood of your dear Son.

On the night before he died he had supper with his friends and, taking bread, he praised you. He broke the bread, gave it to them and said: Take, eat; this is my body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of me.

When supper was ended he took the cup of wine. Again he praised you, gave it to them and said: Drink this, all of you; this is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.

So, Father, we remember all that Jesus did, in him we plead with confidence his sacrifice made once for all upon the cross. Bringing before you the bread of life and cup of salvation, we proclaim his death and resurrection until he comes in glory.

Praise to you Lord Jesus:All Dying you destroyed our death,

Rising you restored our life:Lord Jesus, come in glory.

‘Accept one another for the glory of God, as Christ has accepted you.’ (Romans 15:7)

Lord of all life, help us to work together for that daywhen your kingdom comes and justice and mercy will be seen in all the earth. Look with favour on your people, gather us in your loving arms and bring us with St Margaret and all the saints to feast at your table in heaven. Through Christ, and with Christ, and in Christ, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all honour and glory are yours, O loving Father, for ever and ever.

All Amen.

The Lord’s PrayerAll Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,

your kingdom come, your will be done,on earth as in heaven.Give us today our daily bread.Forgive us our sins,as we forgive those who sin against us.Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.

The Breaking of the BreadThe Priest breaks the consecrated bread

We break this bread to share in the body of Christ. All Though we are many, we are one body,

because we all share in one bread.

The Giving of CommunionCelebrant He whom the universe could not contain is present to

us in this bread. He who redeemed us and called us by name now meets us in this cup. So take this bread and this wine. In them God comes to us so that we may come to God.

We sing the Agnus Dei.

All are welcome to either come and receive Communion or a blessing. If you would like a blessing rather than to receive Communion (the bread and

wine) then please keep hold of your service sheet as you approach the servers at front of the church.

Laying on of hands for healing is offered in the south aisle chapel during the distribution of communion. This ministry is offered for your own

needs or for someone who maybe on your heart and mind at this time.

Those who are going into hospital in the coming week, or for some other reason, and who would like to be anointed with oil of healing and prayed for by a priest please do have a word with a priest after the service – they

will gladly offer you this ministry.

Hymn 702:

Samuel Stone.

THE CHURCH’S ONE FOUNDATION is Jesus Christ, her Lord; she is his new creation,by water and the word; from heav’n he came and sought her to be his holy bride, with his own blood he bought her, and for her life he died.

Elect from ev’ry nation, yet one o’er all the earth, her charter of salvation, one Lord, one faith, one birth; one holy name she blesses, partakes one holy food, and to one hope she presses, with ev’ry grace endured.

Mid toil and tribulation, and tumult of her war, she waits the consummation of peace for evermore; till with the vision glorious her longing eyes are blest,

‘Accept one another for the glory of God, as Christ has accepted you.’ (Romans 15:7)

and the great Church victorious shall be the Church at rest.

Yet she on earth hath union with God the Three in One, and mystic sweet communion with those whose rest is won: O happy ones and holy! Lord, give us grace that we like them, the meek and lowly, on high may dwell with thee.

THE DISMISSALCelebrant We go into the world to walk in God’s light,

to rejoice in God’s love, and to reflect God’s glory.

Go in peace to love and serve the Lord. All In the name of Christ.
