All are welcome to St Margaret’s and we encourage all to take part fully in this service. If you have mobility issues that make it difficult for you to

come and receive communion or laying-on-of-hands for healing, should you want to, then do please notify our sides-people, and we will come to you.

Please do stay for coffee served at the back of church after the service. There is a toilet at the back of church should you need to use it during the

service.

THE PRAYER OF PREPARATION

All Almighty God, to whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hidden: cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy name; through Christ our Lord. Amen.

PRAYERS OF PENITENCE Celebrant Our Lord Jesus Christ said: The first commandment is

this: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is the only Lord. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength’. The second is this: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself’. There is no other commandment greater than these. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

The Advent Wreath is lit as a symbol of the light of Christ coming into the world and into the darkness of our own lives.

Celebrant When the Lord comes, he will bring to light the things now hidden in darkness, and will disclose the purposes of the heart. Therefore in the light of Christ let us confess our sins.


All Father, we have sinned against heaven and against you. We are not worthy to be called your children. We turn to you again. Have mercy on us, bring us back to yourself as those who once were dead but now have life through Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Breaking of the BreadThe Priest breaks the consecrated bread

All Though we are many, we are one body, because we all share in one bread.

The Giving of CommunionCome, not because you are strong, but because you are weak. Come, not because any goodness of your own gives you any right to come, but because you need mercy and help. Come, because you love the Lord a little, and would like to love him more.Come, because he loves you and gave himself for you.

All We do not presume to come to this your table, merciful Lord, trusting in our own righteousness, but in your manifold and great mercies. We are not worthy so much as to gather up the crumbs under your table. But you are the same Lord whose nature is always to have mercy. Grant us therefore, gracious Lord, so to eat the flesh of your dear Son Jesus Christ and to drink his blood, that our sinful bodies may be made clean by his body and our souls washed through his most precious blood, and that we may evermore dwell in him and he in us. Amen.

Laying on of hands for healing is offered in the south aisle chapel during the distribution of communion. This ministry is offered for your own

needs or for someone who maybe on your heart and mind at this time.


Those who are going into hospital in the coming week, or for some other reason, and who would like to be anointed with oil of healing and prayed for by a priest please do have a word with a priest after the service – they

will gladly offer you this ministry.

The Prayers after CommunionCelebrant Heavenly Father, who chose the Blessed Virgin Mary to

be the mother of the promised saviour: fill us your servants with your grace, that in all things we may embrace your holy will and with her rejoice in your salvation; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

All Father of all, we give you thanks and praise, that when we were still far off you met us in your Son and brought us home. Dying and living, he declared your love, gave us grace, and opened the gate of glory. Copies Of The First Issue Of Our New Magazine, Mag.net, are being distributed with the church Christmas card to everyone who lives in Ifield. For those who live elsewhere, there are copies available in church for you to collect today.


Planned Giving Envelopes for 2016 are now ready for collection and are on the table by the north door.

A Christmas Card Tree will be set up in church. Instead of writing individual Christmas cards people can write their message on a card to their friends in the congregation and hang it on the tree, making a donation which this year will go to Water Aid. Many thanks Lindsey.

SMILE Ladies group - forthcoming events – Spring 2016

Wednesday 3rd February – Evening Meal at Mo Lin Chinese Restaurant 7pm for 7.30 pm. All you can eat for £14.80 per head (plus drinks) – food cooked freshly to order.

Wednesday 2nd March – ‘Dirty Dancing’ sing-a-long – a screening of the romantic movie (cert 15) at Hawth Crawley, but this time we can all join in. There will be a vocal warm up, a fancy dress competition (optional!) and a magic moments fun pack. Tickets £16 each. 30 seats have been reserved. Who’s up for this? Contact Clare to book your place.
