Music EnsemblesThe choral and instrumental ensemble programme at St Peters is diverse in styles and performance opportunities. The programme is inclusive with a place for all to be involved.

Students who learn an ensemble instrument or voice at St Peters Lutheran College are required to play/sing in a school ensemble that caters for their particular instrument or voice. Pianists are encouraged to sing in a choir.

Rehearsals are timetabled to avoid clashes so that students can be involved in both instrumental and choral ensembles.

Students are encouraged to take part in a wide variety of cocurricular activities. If a clash occurs between a music rehearsal and another commitment, students are asked to make contact with the relevant Head of Bands, Strings or Choir a minimum of one week prior.

Instrumental Ensemble Auditions All students who play an appropriate instrument, and are currently learning either at College or externally, will be offered a place in one of our core instrumental ensembles. Students do not need to be learning their instrument through the St Peters music tuition program.

• Auditions are designed to ascertain the appropriate ensemble for the student• Students will be required to prepare music as directed for their audition• Sign-up sheets for additional auditions will be available on the noticeboard at the Performing Arts Centre during

the first week of term• Auditions are available on Thursday 26 November and Friday 27 November 2020. Please contact David

Deacon (Strings) 3377 6530 or Grantley Sutch (Band) 3377 6554 for more details or to book your audition.

Choral Ensembles Senior School students are encouraged to sing in the choral program. All are welcome! There are no auditions for entry to Saints and Singers (male) or Cantique (female). Students who wish to sing in the senior choral ensemble, St Peters Chorale, should contact the Director of Chorale, Ms Kathryn Morton, for more details via [email protected] or 3377 6950.

Commitment to the Program Parents are asked to support the College by assisting their children to honour their commitment to the cocurricular program, and by ensuring that they are available for all of the activities associated with their chosen ensemble(s). Dates for the year will be provided to all members of the ensembles at the commencement of the year. Students and parents are asked to note these dates in their diaries and to consider them as date claimers and a commitment to that event.

Performance and rehearsal dates and times for each ensemble are provided at the beginning of each year. Students, supported by their parents, are expected to commit to all dates unless otherwise negotiated with the relevant Head of Department.

Music Support Group The Music Support Group is a fellowship of parents whose purpose is to support St Peters students’ cultural and spiritual development within their participation in the music programmes and to support the Music Department staff to promote musical excellence.

It is not an onerous time commitment and is usually associated with an activity in which your child will be involved – for example, helping to organise and serve supper after a concert. Please contact the Music Department to register your interest in this group. A separate brochure for more information about this group is available.

For more information please email the MSG President at [email protected]
