Our StoryFor as long as boats have been built inAbaco, Bahamas, the Albury familyhas been building them. From the wellprotected harbor of Man O’War Cay,Albury boats - sloops, smacks, schoonershave set sail generation after generation,benefiting Abaconians during the ups anddowns of the islands’ fortunes. Alburyshave sewn sails, carved models, repairedtheir own and others’ boats on their slip-ways and, since 1952, they have been building, onehull at a time, the most enduring vessel of all - theAlbury runabout. Willard Albury, (below) in one of theoriginal wooden runabouts that he still uses today.

Alburys have lived in Man O’War Cay practicallysince The Flood, and have docks, slipways and a

canvas business. Cousin Joe is famous for his sailingsloops (top) and exquisitely carved half-models.

To own an Albury 23 is to become a part of aspecial tradition. The family’s long boat building experi-ence has taught that simplicity and seaworthiness are thekeys to providing a safe, smooth ride. Simplicity is foundin the clean, spacious deck space, while the seaworthinessis manifested in the beamy, modified-vee hull, providing astable platform in all conditions. The strong, hand-laid hullis rated for 250 hp and the 23 will reach a speed of 40mph with ease.
