Our staff, both teaching and administrative, deserve many accolades for everything they do for our students every day. It has been a very busy and fruitful year, our students have achieved well, excelled in sporting endeavours and more importantly grown as citizens. PRESENTATION DAY This morning we held a very successful Presentation Day for Years 2-6 students at the Albury High School hall. It was great to see so many students receiving awards or performing. Unfortunately we can only present a certain number of awards but I know the staff and I are very proud of the achievements of all our students. Every student should feel very proud of their efforts this year and strive to continue to do their best in all their endeavours in 2016. Congratulations to our students for taking pride in their uniform and looking so great in their formal summer uniform. Thank you to the many families and friends who were able to join us on this special day. I congratulate Miss Macleod and the Senior Choir, Miss Heywood and 3/4CM who performed a French item and Mrs Moriarty and the ensemble for their moving performances. Special thanks are extended to Katja, an ex-student currently in Year 12 at AHS. Katja composed a piece of music for the ensemble to perform today and then conducted them in their performance – thanks Katja! Many thanks to Ms Howard, Miss Brooker, Mr Neil and their team for the excellent organisation of the day. Many thanks also to Mr Ian Pantling (APS) and Mr Greg Chadwick (AHS) and Mr Barry Eckley for their assistance. Thanks to Mr Ward and the other staff at Albury High School for their assistance in the organisation of the ceremony. During the ceremony today, our 2016 Captains and Vice-Captains were announced. Congratulations to these students:- 2016 School Captains - Phoebe Grigg and Mitchell Lawes 2016 Vice Captains - Ava Tuksar and Harrison Lawes I am sure you will all fulfil your roles admirably. The recipients of the special awards, both academic and sporting are printed on page 2 of this newsletter. Congratulations again to them all! COUNCILLORS LUNCH Yesterday Mrs Dicketts, Mrs Whitehead and I shared a ‘lunch out’ with our current student councillors. We shared quite a few pizzas and it was great to have a social interaction with 12 students who have done so much for our school during the year. It would have been demonstrated to all those present today, as they led the ceremony, that they were indeed wonderful leaders! 2016 NEWS A reminder that students in Yrs 1-6 return to school on Thursday 28 January. As is the custom, students will return to their 2015 classes for a few days until enrolment numbers are finalised. Our current enrolment numbers indicate we are only one student off forming a 24 th class. As you are aware, many things can happen over the holidays, and two students either way make a huge difference. New Kindergarten students will receive a letter stating their starting time for Friday 29 January. STAFF CHANGES Miss Di Heywood, has announced that she will not be returning to our school next year. She has decided to retire and move to sunny Queensland! I wish to thank her for her commitment to the French program over many years. Many of our ex-students who have travelled abroad have been able to ask questions, directions, find accommodation and eat, as a result of the French program led by Miss Heywood. Thanks for everything and best wishes for the future! Ms Alison Griffith and Mr Ross Sewell will be on leave during 2016. We wish them a happy and safe year. As we are unsure of other staff appointments we are not able to announce replacements at this stage. To conclude I wish you and your families a very happy festive season and a 2016 full of peace. PLEASE travel safely! CRICKET REPORTS

BLUE- APS Junior Blue played LEPS Green. We batted first

and quickly put 78 runs on the board. With some

excellent bowling LEPS were out for 11. Team members

were: Sanjaya K, Liam P, Jack H, Dominic M, Luke V- Z,

Rhys K, Jack W, Lachlan R, Noah S, Rory H, Oscar W,

Jake L, and Billy R. It has been wonderful to see the boys

enjoy their cricket and be such great sports. Well done

boys!

APS Senior Blue played their last game against

LEPS Green. Batters struck several boundaries

during our innings with some accurate bowling

and fielding. Team members were: Josh G, Louise G,

Joseph W-H, Ian H, Brodie P, Rupert B, Charlie J,

Jonathon G, Hamish W, Charlie C, Theo T, Joel O, David

P and Will P. The boys were great ambassadors for the

game. Congratulations boys!

A special thank you to Mrs Pargeter for trialling and

organising the four teams, also to the parents who gave

their support at matches on Friday.

Lynn Macleod, Coordinator.

GOLD- Our final match for the term was played against

Albury North at Norris Park. The Junior Gold team made

114 runs, with most batters retiring on solid scores. The

Senior Gold team were quite efficient with their bowling

and fielding; holding NAPS to a total of 63. Our Senior

batters made 83 quickly. Well done to all members of

the Gold teams as they continued to encourage one

another and display fair sportsmanship. A huge thank

you to Mr Grigg and Mr Boehm who assisted with

umpiring and scoring throughout the season.

Christel Pargeter, Coordinator

JUNIOR T-BALL- The last game of the year saw many

team members trying to take catches, both on our

mixed team and on the Lavington team. It was terrific to

hear encouraging comments being given to others

throughout the game.

The teacher from Lavington, who supervised our girls’

team playing against her girls’ team, also reported

fantastic attempts at catching and running by our

Albury Public students.

Thank you very much to our

loyal but fair supporter,

Caroline Whittle, who assisted

with the Albury Public teams

each week. The students also

enjoyed having some of their

parents come along

throughout the season to

cheer them on from the

sidelines.

Jenny Boehm, Class Teacher.

SENIOR SOFTBALL- The Senior

Boys team had a bye for

their final game so they played against each other;

enjoying a bit of friendly competition.

The Senior Girls team had a great win over Hume Public

School. I would like to thank all the players for their

positive attitude throughout the season; each of them

showed good sportsmanship and they were always

ready to lend a hand with the kits. Well done everyone.

Also, a special thank you to Lyndon Robertson, who

assisted with coaching and umpiring.

Jess Brooker, Coordinator.
