A message from the P&C

On rainy days, kids should play outside

The new NRL season begins this week and our students are already on the ball. Children in Years 3-6 had the chance to talk to league representative Dean (above) about treating themselves and each other with respect.

We’re very grateful to Dean for showing us the importance of ‘passing the ball the way you would like to receive it.’

From the classroom

School Targets

I scream as I run away from the beast that’s chasing me. “Warren! Help!” I yell. No reply. I might not have heard him because my head is pounding and I’m out of breath. I stop running for a break and realise why Warren didn’t answer me. He’s been chasing me for 10 minutes. He finally caught up to me and he didn’t seem happy. I assumed it was because I ran away from him. For the next few days, he continued to talk to me but he didn’t seem invested in the conversation.

Every story needs a Sizzling Start and Ms Schell’s students in 5/6 CS have been working hard on how to grab our attention as the reader.

One day there were two best friends. Mirrum slept outside and Warram slept inside. They liked to go fishing together and also liked to sleep outside together. One night when the rain came, Warram decided to go in his hut. Mirram tried to ask Warram if he could come in, but Warram ignored him.

TAYLOR COAD

Once upon a time, a long time ago, there lived two people; Mirrum and Warram. They were the best of friends. They caught fish together and went hunting together. They were happy in life.

Zap! Bang!

“Wow, that was close Warram!” “Yes, it was.”

A great rain fell across the land and all the plants got a wonderful drink.

The NSW Department of Education has given each school its own achievement benchmark for literacy, numeracy, wellbeing, equity and attendance. This is part of their strategy to improve performance across the state's 2200 government schools.

We can track the attendance target daily. Our school’s attendance target is to increase the number of children who have an attendance rate above 90% (less than 4 weeks off each year). Our target is for attendance to reach an average of 80%. We are currently at 70%.

A message to KTF CarersUnfortunately Ms Fowler has needed to take sudden leave for the next 4 weeks. Mrs Noske has kindly offered to work with KTF during this time. Mrs Mimmo will come back to us and fill Mrs Noske’s teaching roles.

1. Tell us something we wouldn’t know about you. I play ultimate frisbee and compete in professional athletics. Mr Fury is my running coach.

2. What household chore do you actually enjoy? I love mowing the lawn and whipper-snipping. Instant gratification and improvement.

3. What do you want to do when you retire? When I can no longer run

or work, I’m planning on taking up golf more consistently. That’s an old person’s game, isn’t it?

4. What did you have for breakfast this morning? Three Weet-Bix with cold milk and a banana, then two slices of toast with honey - and a cold slice of pizza as I was walking out of the door.

5. If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? Spaghetti bolognese with garlic bread. It’s perfect for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

6. What are your favourite TV shows? Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Friends and The Big Bang Theory.

MR LINDNER

Albury Gold Cup Next Friday (March 20) school will close at 12pm. There will be no buses to pick children up.

School Attendance All students enrolled at school are expected to attend whenever instruction is being provided. Every absence needs to have a written or verbal explanation. Justified reasons include illness, a medical appointment, religious holiday or urgent family circumstances like attending a funeral. We understand some absences are unavoidable but the school has procedures in place to monitor attendance. A letter will be sent home if we are concerned about your child’s attendance. If you have any questions, please contact Mr Fury.

Newsletter Night is Nit-busting Night! We know treating head lice can be costly and annoying so at ANPS we ask all parents to spend some time on Monday night looking through your child’s hair and treating if necessary. Head lice are only found on the human head or hair. They do not live on furniture, hats, bedding or carpet so treating these places does NOT get rid of head lice.

Future Moves Workshop There will be in-school activities for Year 6, on March 18, delivered by CSU staff as part of the Future Moves program.

Riverina PSSA Swimming - Jenna Ruhbaum, Sarah Madew, Georgia Gehrig, Justice Ross and Chanel Locke are all representing the school at the carnival. Good Luck.

Choose your high school 2021 Parents or carers of Year 6 students should return the completed Expression of Interest form to school no later than Friday 20 March.

Make sure you LIKE our Facebook page to keep in touch with all the latest from ANPS.

If your child has 15 points from awards and merits, please bring them in to receive recognition. By our calculations, we should have at least 20 children on our list.
