    Supply chain practice focuses on materialmovement (Chopra and Meindl, 2001),while information sharing focuses on

    information flow (PremkumarandWilliam, 1994).

    The purpose of this study:

    Investigate the relationship between

    information sharing and supply chain practice

    Investigate the influence of supply chaindynamism on information sharing and supply

    The results of the study suggest that Hypothesis 1 is strongly supported

    Significant empirical finding suggests that effective informationsharing enhances effective supply chain practices, such as supply chainplanning, JIT production and delivery practices.

    Supply chain transparency may be enhanced and forecast errors maybe reduced.

    Hypothesis1

    Hypothesis 2 is strongly supported (i.e. supply chaindynamism has significant positive influence oninformation sharing)

    Hypothesis2

    Supply chain dynamism does have positive influence onsupply chain practice, but not as much as oninformation sharing

    information quality and delivery practice havesignificant positive influence on deliveryperformance, while customer information has asignificant negative influence.

    The finding that information quality has asignificant positive influence on deliveryperformance in this study confirms the results inSchroeder and Flynn (2001).

    Among the three groups of supply chain practice,only delivery practice has a significant positive

    influence on delivery performance. Effective supply chain practice is critical for

    leveraging effective information sharing whenthe level of information sharing is high.

    Effective supply chain practices and information

    sharing play different roles in managing supplychains.

    The importance of effective supply chainpractices increases as the level of informationsharing increases. Fisher (1997) categorizessupply chains into efficient supply chains andresponsive supply chains

    Firms do not have to excel in all dimensionsof supply chain processes inorder to achievesuperior delivery performance.

    (1) Effective information sharing significantlyenhances effective supply chain practice;

    (2) Supply chain dynamism has significant positiveinfluence on information sharing;

    (3) Supply chain dynamism has positive influenceon supply chain practice, but not as much as oninformation sharing;

    (4) Effective information sharing and effectivesupply chain practice have significant influenceon delivery performance;

    (5) The higher the level of information sharing, themore important the effective supply chainpractice is to achieve superior performance.
