A sensational entry of premium cattle this week met a storming trade. Two cracking Limousin steers from Messrs W T Bryant & Sons of St Martin, Helston sold at 246p/kg, one to J V Richards Ltd of Perranwell Station (696kg steer) and the other to Dales Family Butchers of Helston (619kg steer). Messrs Bryant’s wonderful run of 8 cattle averaged 235.5p/kg. Dearest bullock of the day was a big Limousin x steer in from Messrs W H & L M Williams & Son of Allet, Truro, achieving £1,715 (245p/kg), bought by Trevarthens of Roskrow. Steers – top prices

Trade as keen as ever, with numbers starting to build as we head into Autumn, all makes and models in demand with plenty of buying power around the ring. Dearest of the day were a pair of exceptional 2 year old Limousin x heifers in from Mr D Rounsevell of Veryan, Truro, which sold at £1,275. Just behind were four 18mo steers, the best of a fine run of Shorthorn x cattle from Mr A J Jelbert of Mitchell, Newquay which sold for £1,240 a piece. A grand 18mo Aberdeen Angus x steer, part of a run of shapey youngsters from Messrs J H Pellow & Sons of Carnhell Green sold for £1,195, which was matched by a pair of well-reared Charolais x steers of the same age from Messrs I D & S S Backway of St Eval.
