İstanbul Üsküdar – Ümraniye - Çekmeköy (UUC) Metro is a mass underground railway transportation system, between Üsküdar and Çekmeköy Stations, including a total of 17.5 km main line tunnels, in NATM and cut-cover types, a total of 16 stations along the trackway, 2.7 km depot area connection tunnel, depot yard and maintenance area lines and buildings.

Prota’s scope includes:

• Architectural basic and detailed design of stations, depot yard & control center; tunnels and structures, preparation of design manuals for architectural works.

• Structural design of stations, depot yard & control center, tunnels and structures, retaining walls and geotechnical investigations and reporting, preparation of design manuals for reinforced concrete structures and steel construction items.

• Track-way alignment engineering and design services including drainage and crossing systems.

NATM and TBM tunneling design

İstanbul Kadıköy - Kartal Metro Line

İstanbul Metro - Taksim and Şişli Stations

İstanbul Üsküdar - Ümraniye - Çekmeköy Metro Line

Kartal-Kadıköy Metro Project is the longest underground metro system in Turkey, so far constructed, with a total length of 21.6 km. The metro project includes 16 stations, an underground depot yard and various workshop buildings in total. The project is composed of double tunnels and the distance between the two tunnels is nearly 32 meters.

Prota’s scope includes:

• Track-way alignment engineering and design services including additional alignment survey and mapping works, infrastructural (water, sewerage, communication, natural gas, etc. projects, pumping stations, and other required infrastructural annexes.), rail upper structure design along with the alignment.

• Preparation of alignment investigations, plan, profile and cross-sections between Kozyatağı and Kartal, and for 3.5 km. track-way extension after Kartal Station.

• Preparation of plan, profile and cross-sections for each track way including coordinates at the intervals given in the technical specifications.

• Preparation of super-elevation and speed limitations, and horizontal and vertical geometry calculations, cross- sections along the track way and at the structure type changing points.

• Architectural, structural and E&M system detailed designs of 17 underground structures (16 subway stations and an underground depot).

• Project planning, construction management, programming of works, electromechanical services design, mechanical and electrical system designs, fire safety engineering designs, acoustic modelling and designs.

Taksim – 4th Levent is the first section of İstanbul Metro Project with a total of 8.5 km length track way and 6 underground stations. Şişli Station, on Taksim – 4th Levent line is at 28 m (92 ft) below ground level. The station has two exit gates, namely Mecidiyekoy and Şisli, the latter is connected from underground to the Cevahir Mall as well.

Prota’s scope includes:

• Reinforced concrete and application designs and drawings.

• Bracing and drainage systems.

• Structural analyses and calculations.

• Soil improvement survey and studies.

İstanbul Gebze - Haydarpasa, Sirkeci - Halkalı Commuter Railway

İstanbul Gebze-Haydarpasa, Sirkeci-Halkalı suburb rail system consists of 19.6 km line connecting Halkalı to Sirkeci on the European side and 43.4 km line to connect Haydarpaşa to Gebze (a part of Marmaray Project) on the

Asian side. Prota carried out structural design and final design services for 28 stations within the entire scope of the project.

Ankara High Speed Train Station

Ankara High Speed Train Station has been designed with a capacity of 20.000 passengers/day for the first phase and planned to reach 50.000 passengers/day capacity in the near future. The overall scope of the project includes:

• A hotel having a capacity of 102 bedrooms and 204 beds,

• A leasable area of 6200 m² for office buildings, and

• A leasable area of 24.500 m² for several shopping stores.

In the new Ankara High Speed Train Terminal, 6 new

rail lines and 3 new passenger platforms, which are respectively 400 meters long and 11 meters wide, will be constructed for the arrival and the departure of high-speed trains. Having a closed area of 32.000 m², the building’s total construction area is 175.000 m².

Within the scope of the project, Prota’s services basically include:

• Structural design of the railroad terminal,

• Project coordination and project management among the disciplines.

The project includes the construction of new underground railway from Rondo Daszynskiego in the city centre to Dworzec Wilenski in the northeast suburbs, on the wide of River Wisla. Metro Line II is the long-awaited investment in the expansion of high-capacity public transport in Warsaw.

The project includes the design of the central section of Line II of the Warsaw underground – 6.3 kilometers of tracks featuring 7 stations between the two terminals Rondo Daszynskiego and Dworzec Wilenski. The route involves underground crossing of the River Vistula between Powisle station and Station station.

A large part of the route runs through Warsaw’s subsoil (4.5 kilometers of tunnels split into 6 separate sections) and consists in a pair of parallel, single-track tunnels – a design solution which increases the new line’s safety and eliminates the risk of head-on collisions between trains.

Prota’s scope includes:

• Building permit and detailed designs of cut and cover tunnel systems,

• Geotechnical assessments, design and reporting,

• Architectural and structural design of seven station structures (all are underground),

• Infrastructure, drainage and retaining wall designs,

Warsaw Metro Line II

Within the scope of the Metro constructed by Gülermak and Kolin partnership, Prota carried out re-design services of ASKİ and Meteoroloji stations.

Prota’s services include final and detail designs of ASKİ and Meteoroloji Stations as well as the connecting tunnel between Railway Switch Structure and Ankara Metro.

Prota’s services basically include:

Ankara Keçiören - Tandoğan Metro Line - ASKİ and Meteoroloji Stations

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality planned to build a new underground storage facility for the light rail wagons and vehicles to be purchased in Halkapınar district. Prota has undertaken all necessary preliminary and final design services of the facility to be built at 15 m below ground level.

Storage facility has a capacity of 116 wagon composing of 19 number of fivefold vehicle serial and 21 numbers of wagons. Prota made all geological and geotechnical investigations to specify the ground conditions and

proposed an optimised and applicable design solution to the Client, to ensure the safety of structure against seismic and ground water risks. Following optimization and technical feasibility studies, building is designed as two-stories in cut-and-cover method. Building has two entrances and one of them has an automatic vehicle washing outer unit to be built above ground level on the open area. In addition to its storage capacity, building is furnished with appropriate spaces for administrative and staffing purposes and by a temporary steel roof platform that would serve for light vehicle maintenance.

Ankara Metro - Storage Area Design

Prota has undertaken final designs of M1 and M2 line storage facilities of Ankara underground. M1 storage area is located next to Macunköy Station at the west end and M2 storage area is located near Çayyolu Station.

Prota’s scope includes:

• Emergency exit and air-conditioning simulation systems,

Design Services of 5th Group Underground, Aboveground Parking Lots and Transfer Locations in İstanbul

Design Services of 6th Group Underground, Aboveground Parking Lots and Transfer Locations in Istanbul

The main purpose of these underground, aboveground parking areas and transfer locations is provision of comfort for the downtown traffic in İstanbul. The overall scope of the project includes conventional parking lots with a total closed area of 140.000 m² and mechanical parking lots with a total closed area of 80.000 m² at several different districts in İstanbul.

These parking lots will have a total capacity of 2750 vehicles. In addition, they will also be used as transfer locations due to their closeness to subway and bus stations.

Prota’s services include:

• Mapping and soil investigation works,

• Underground design services,

• Architectural design services,

• Geotechnical and structural design services,

• Mechanical engineering services,

• Fire systems, control and communication systems design services,

• Electromechanical system design services,

• Landscape design services,

The main purpose of these underground, aboveground parking areas and transfer locations is to provide comfort to the downtown traffic. The overall scope of the project includes conventional parking lots with a total closed area of 150.000 m² and mechanical parking lots with a total closed area of 75.000 m² at several different districts in Istanbul.

These parking lots will have a total capacity of 2800 vehicles. They will also be used as transfer locations to the subway and bus stations.

In addition, greenery and playground areas for kids will be designed on top of underground parking lots. A total of 55,000 m² landscape area is planned to be designed within the overall scope of the project.

İzmir Halkapınar Light Rail System New Stack Storage Facility Design

İzmir Light Rail System between F. Altay and Narlıdere Districts

The total length of F. Altay – Narlidere rail system is approximately 8.5 km and is located in Izmir, third biggest metropolitan city of Turkey located in the Aegean coast.

Prota’s services under the project scope basically include:

• Preparation of cost estimates, bill of quantities and tender documents,

• Feasibility studies,

• Application projects of tunnels, stations and other buildings which are located within the 4 km of the rail system,

• Mapping and soil investigation works,

• Alignment studies.

İstanbul Marmaray Commuter Railway CR3 Contract

Marmaray Project is much more than building or upgrading a railway tunnel. The project provides a new, high-capacity railway system, connecting Halkali on the European side and with Gebze on the Asian side in İstanbul which is a fast growing mega city leading an increased demand for better transportation network.

The project provides a huge public transportation system to İstanbul. It increases capacity, reliability, accessibility, punctuality, comfort and safety of the transportation services while it reduces travel time. It also provides more sustainable and long-term solution to the current transportation problems of İstanbul.

Marmaray Contract CR3 covers the upgrading of 63 km of existing railway on both the Asian and European shores to connect with the 14 km Bosporus tube crossing, creating a 77 km cross-city commuter corridor linking Gebze and Halkalı. A third track is to be laid alongside the existing double-track route to accommodate inter-city and freight services, with complete renewal of the overhead electrification and signalling. The line will have 40 new and upgraded stations, two control centers and new stabling yards and maintenance facilities.

Prota’s design services under the scope of Marmaray project include:

İzmir Halkapınar Maintenance Depot Building

Maintenance Depot Building to be designed is located inside the current Halkapınar Depot Area. Overall project scope include widening of the current atelier building in the west and north directions, restoration of all the necessary maintenance equipment, design services of new indoor parking lot and storage area for the maintenance of vehicles and materials, design services of additional indoor warehouse for storage of spare parts and consumables which will be located under Halkapınar viaduct, and design services of the footbridge which is located between the Halkapınar Station and the central building. Within the scope of the project, Prota carried out following services:

• Mapping and site investigation works,

• Track-way alignment design services,

• Infrastructure design services,

• Architectural design services,

• Geotechnical and structural design services,

• Mechanical engineering design services,

• Fire systems, control and communication systems design services,

İstanbul Eyüp - Rami - Yesilpinar Cable Car

PROTA ENGINEERING TRANSPORTATION

Eyüp, Rami, Yesilpınar Cable Car Project is specified by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality as part of the transportation systems and transportation infrastructures defined under the context of İstanbul Metropolitan Area Integrated Urban Transportation Plan. The cable car design services under Prota scope cover the specific components defined below:

• Alignment studies,

• Alignment research studies to develop alternatives and selection of the appropriate solution, and the definition of the selected route,

• Railway transportation studies,

• Designation of respective station locations along the route as result of such survey and studies,

• Preliminary design services of stations,

• Preparation of urban plan revisions for the selected route wherever necessary,

• Preparation of financial feasibility studies.

İstanbul Üsküdar - Ümraniye Metro Line Maintenance and Depot Facilities

St. Petersburg Pulkovo Airport

Maintenance and depot facilities are planned to be constructed for trains that will be used at Üsküdar – Ümraniye metro line, located in Istanbul. The maintenance and depot area contains indoor/outdoor depot areas, vehicle maintenance areas, maintenance warehouse and administrative building. The maintenance and depot area specifically comprise of the following items:

• A maintenance building which will include train maintenance equipment and train washer, with a total closed area of 19.000 m²,

• Parking lines with a total of 15 train capacity,

• Two-storey depot building with a capacity of 25 trains in its outdoor area and 28 trains in its indoor area, with a total closed area of 36.000 m².

• An administrative building with a total closed area of 20.000 m².

In addition to the facilities mentioned above, the scope of the project also includes double line train valley crossing viaduct with a total length of 230m, highway viaduct with a total length of 160m which will provide entrance to the

depot area, 2 highway overpasses, Cut-and-cover tunnel with a total length of 200m which will provide access for trains to the depot area.

Within the scope of the project, Prota’s final and detailed design services include:

Prota has worked as part of a team to design a new terminal for Pulkovo Airport, St Petersburg, Russia. Pulkovo Airport is located approximately 20 km from the city centre. Due to increasing importance of St. Petersburg as a major cultural and historical centre, a new development and refurbishment project for Pulkovo Airport has been brought into action. This project comprises terminal facilities, airside facilities (runways, aprons and ancillary facilities) and landside facilities (closed car parks, hotel and business centre). The updated Pulkovo will be the fourth largest airport in Russian Federation. After the completion of the project, airport will reach 14 million passengers capacity annually.

Prota’s engineering services cover the structural design of the following structures:

İstanbul Sarıyer - Ayazağa - İTÜ Railway System

The Sarıyer, Ayazağa, ITU Rail System Project is specified by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality as part of the transportation systems and transportation infrastructures defined under the context of İstanbul Metropolitan Area Integrated Urban Transportation Plan. Specifically, the design services under the project covers the following:

• Alignment studies,

• Railway based transportation studies,

• Determination of station positions & coordinates,

• Preliminary design services for stations,

• Preparation of urban plan revisions for the selected alignment,

• Preparation of operation scenarios and financial and economic feasibility studies.

PROTA ENGINEERING TRANSPORTATION

Cairo International Airport

Cairo International Airport is the busiest airport in Egypt located to the north-east of the city around 15 kilometres from the business area of the city; it has an area of approximately 37 kilometres square. Cairo International Airport terminal building 2 is under construction for a major renovation effort to double its capacity to 7.5 million passengers per year.

With a built-up area of 200,000 m², the project comprises the renovation of the existing terminal building 2, the construction of new buildings which includes a new

departure hall, and a new airside pier, doubling the existing total built-up area of TB 2. The terminal will include larger and more modern retail areas and will also include Airbus A380 gates. Upon completion in 2015 the passengers can expect a highly modern terminal offering international standard service levels and more passenger conveniences, including large retail areas and lounges.

Prota provides all optimization and engineering design services for the renovation of the B Block of TB 2 having a total closed area of approx. 125,000 m².

İstanbul Sabiha Gokçen International Airport

İstanbul New Airport

Sabiha Gökçen International Airport is one of the two international airports in Istanbul, Turkey. The facility is located at 35 km southeast of central İstanbul and is on the Asian side of the bi-continental city.

The new terminal inaugurated in 2009 received “European Steel Design Award” given by the European Convention for Constructional Steelwork (ECCS). The project was also granted an award of Merit at Structural Engineers Association of California.

Within the scope of the project, Prota’s services include:

• Provision of seismic safety with Triple Pendulum Seismic Isolation System, checking the applied loads, structural model evaluation, design review report preparation for Carpark Structure,

• Review of pile foundation system and preparation of geotechnical report for terminal building,

• Selection of seismic isolator systems for terminal building, preparation of respective technical specifications, and evaluation of seismic system proposals, inspection of isolator products, structural system selection,

• Structural modelling and calculations of terminal building, review of seismic design of isolator systems, checking the designs of buried concrete base structure, steel composite superstructure,

• Infrastructural design for flyover bridges and underground structures, evaluation of the structural model, checking the analyses by independent computer modelling, preparation of design review report.

İstanbul New Airport is to be constructed by CMLKK consortium in accordance with the contract that is signed between DHMI and CMLKK. It is a build-operate-transfer type of contract.

Istanbul New Airport is being built to have the highest passenger capacity in the world, hosting at least 70 million passengers during its first year and 150 million passengers annually within the first 25 years of its operation. There

will be flights to more than 350 destinations around the world and is expected to be the one of the most important airports in the world.

Prota performs the seismic and structural design services of the passenger terminal building which has a total closed area of 1.000.000 m², and all relevant consultancy services including preparation of the bills of quantities for the works, technical specifications and interface management.

Kosovo Pristina International Airport

Pristina International Airport is located approximately 15 km away from south-east of Pristina, the capital city of Kosovo. The airport is the only International Airport of Kosovo. The existing airport serves for a population of around 2.5 million. This capacity is intended to be increased to 4.5 million passengers with the completion of the new terminal.

The new terminal building with a closed area of 45.000 m² will be constructed with all utilities and equipment for operational functioning and with an exceptional and impressive design resembling the independence of Kosovo.

The building is setup on a 12x12m structural grid providing optimum structural spans. This grid is expanded by the

removal of columns on main passenger halls, providing attractive and spacious double height halls with large column free spans. The columns of the building can be both in RC concrete or steel whereas the light weight curved roof structure is completely out of steel.

Within the scope of the project, Prota’s services include:

• All optimization, structural engineering design services for New Terminal Building,

• Air traffic control tower,

• MEP Building,

• Preparation of structural projects of apron taxiway, apron extension, resa apron, connection roads and carpark, • Preparation of infrastructure projects of the entire airport.
