Catherine of Aragon

• Gave birth to 6 children but only 2 lived past birth (Henry and Mary)

• A party is thrown to honor Henry’s birth and he catches cold and dies days later

• Henry VIII divorces her and declares that Mary is not his child and should be killed if found

Anne Boleyn• Married Henry VIII after his

divorce to Catherine of Aragon

• Only gives birth to 1 child, a girl named Elizabeth

• Henry feeling sure that a male child will not be born to Anne starts to have numerous affairs with other women

• Pope Clement VII threatens England with various punishments if Henry attempts to divorce Anne so he has her killed

Jane Seymour

• Marries Henry VIII after he becomes a widower

• Gives birth to Edward VI but dies during child birth

• Now that Henry has a male child he orders his daughters killed if found

Anne of Cleves

• Marries Henry VIII after Jane Seymour dies giving birth

• She is unable to have children

• Fearing that she will be killed, she has the Pope annul her marriage to Henry

Catherine Howard

• Marries Henry after he has his marriage to Anne annulled

• She is also unable to have children and when the Pope refuses to annul their marriage or allow Henry to divorce her, Henry has her killed

Catherin Parr

• Marries Henry VIII after Catherine Parr’s death

• She also does not give Henry any children and has to escape for her life, she gets away and marries another person years later and dies later in her life

In the End• In the end, Henry avoids war with the

Catholic Church by creating his own church called the Anglican Church or Church of England, in today’s world this is the Episcopalian Church in America

• Henry’s two daughters will both rule England after his death and both rule very differently

• Mary is brutally scared from her time hiding from her father and dedicates her life to killing protestants (as payback against her father) in Scotland and England earning her the nickname “Bloody Mary” ironically her people cut her head off

• Elizabeth is brutally scared from seeing her father kill all the wives and decides she will never marry and earns the nickname “The Virgin Queen”, she focuses more on art and science than religion and marriage
