General Information and Requirements

The Florida FFA Quality Chapter Planning Guide and Report is designed to promote the consistent delivery of high quality FFA programming throughout the state focused on premier leadership, personal growth, and career success. These standards should improve chapter operations consistent with the traditional Program of Activities (POA) and emphasize student, chapter and community development.

Quality standards have been developed in five (5) areas as a minimum requirement for recognition as a bona fide FFA chapter in the state of Florida. Chapters should plan activities in each of the quality standard areas with an emphasis on measurable results. The FFA Mission and Strategies should be used as a guide in planning, implementing and assessing accomplishments.

This Quality Chapter Planning Guide and Report will be used, not only as a planning tool, but also as an assessment tool to determine chapter quality status. FFA Chapters that do not meet the minimum adopted standard, 150 points for High School (Senior) Chapters and 125 points for Middle School and Junior Chapters, for a quality chapter would be allowed to continue, but with limited participation, until minimum standards have been met. This ‘probation’ status will be evaluated on an annual basis, and chapters will be prohibited from placing and/or winning any Career Development Event (CDE) or chapter award until the minimum quality standards have been met. In addition, chapters that fall below the minimum quality standards will not be able to seat voting delegates at the annual State FFA Convention.

In order to meet the minimum quality standard each chapter must complete at least one (1) activity or score a minimum of 10 points in each of the standard areas and earn at least 150-Senior Chapter and 125-Junior/Middle School points overall. No more than five activities in each area will count toward this total.

The Quality Chapter Planning Guide and Report will also serve as the Premier Chapter Award Application. To be considered for the award, Senior chapters are required to obtain the maximum amount of points required in each category for a total of 260 points, as well as complete

the entire additional Partnership Standard. Junior and Middle school chapters are required to obtain 235 points and must also complete the entire additional Partnership Standard to be considered a Premier Chapter.

This document is to be used as a reference only. The Quality Chapter Planning Guide and Report must be completed and submitted online.

Leadership Events50 Points Possible (10 points per activity up to 50 points)Students gain leadership, team building, employability and, interpersonal skills; opportunities for service learning and volunteerism taking full advantage of FFA activities.

Purpose: This guide helps Teachers prepare the AET students use. Use this as a reference while accessing the system for the first time. There are serveral important things you can do as the Teacher, but it is essential that you complete these steps before introducing students to the AET.

Sign In and Complete the Chapter Profile Go to http://www.theaet.com. Click sign in "Teacher" and use your JudgingCard/AET username and password. Select Profile from the top menu. Profile has several important sections such as Teacher & Chapter Profile, Subscription Manager to signup for AET and print AET invoices and other sections to control users of AET. Review each and complete. Important Steps before Students Begin in AET #1. Course Builder (Profile tab) – Each student needs to enroll in ag couses, but first you have to setup current and past courses so students can enroll. To add a course:

a. Click the "Teacher Profiles" link. Update existing teachers' profiles by choosing them from the list on the left. Add teachers by clicking on the "Add New Person" link.

b. Under the Profile tab, Click the "Course Builder" link to add courses that are offered in your Ag Program.

1). Click the “New Course” button to add a new course

2.) Enter the details of the course

Getting Started Using the Teacher Account

14

Page 15: Teacher Update - Florida FFA Association Packet.pdf · - A dded preliminary – written exam - T op Three Scores Count • Forestry CDE - T op Three Scores Count • Livestock CDE

#2. Add Student Accounts (Accounts tab) - The teacher must create student accounts for students to be able to access the AET. Students can be added “one at a time,” or in groups, “many at a time”.

1. Select the Accounts tab from the top menu. 2. In the Accounts menu, click “Manage all accounts” to see a list of all your

“active” student accounts. To Add Student Accounts, choose one of the methods indicated by the arrows. The most common and easiest is “multiple” which lets you add an entire course of students or the new freshman entering the program.

To add multiple accounts, click the “multiple” link.

a. Obtain an electronic list of all the new students in your classes from Excel, your school’s attendance system, or Roster. The list needs to be organized with the students “last name, first name” (e.g. Hanagriff, Roger)

b. Paste in students or type students in, then Click “Add Accounts” at the bottom of the screen.

c. Your new students should now have accounts. You can repeat this process for each class as needed. TIPS….

• The username for automatically created student accounts is the first letter of

their first name and then the last name (e.g. RHanagriff). When a username already exists, number extensions are added automatically (e.g. Tim and Thomas Murphy would become TMurphy and TMurphy2).

15

Page 16: Teacher Update - Florida FFA Association Packet.pdf · - A dded preliminary – written exam - T op Three Scores Count • Forestry CDE - T op Three Scores Count • Livestock CDE

3

• By default, the passw ord for an automatically created student account is the same as their their username. Passwords are case-sensitive, so capital and lower-case letters must be entered exactly right.

• Students can change their passwords once they sign into the system. You can always access any student’s records. You never need to know their password

Now you’re ready for the Students to log in and begin using the AET.

a. The Student Help Guide – "Getting Students Started Day 1" will help students access the accounts you’ve just created, setup their Profile, add their classes, make a Journal entry, and create an SAE.

b. Encourage students to sign in to the AET frequently, at school or from home, to keep their records up-to-date. of this guide.

#3. Add FFA Events to AET TRACKER Calendar (Tracker tab) - The teacher can create organized FFA Activities (camps, conventions, etc…) and FFA Competitions (Livestock judging, public speaking, etc…) so that students can register as participating in those events. To set up FFA events:

a. Choose the TRACKER tab in AET b. Choose the “Chapter Tracker Calendar - Program of Activites” and click the

numerical date of the event to create a new event c. Choose FFA Competition or FFA Activity. Complete all sections of the event

information. Make sure the date is correct, students will be able to record involvement in this event in their student FFA related journal.

d. For more help on using the Tracker Calendar, see the Teacher Help document called "Chapter Tracker Calendar Guide"

Purpose: This guide helps students create their profile, enroll in courses and develop an SAE. This is a great guide to print prior to students going into a computer lab or used as a step by step to get started the correct way in AET. Follow these steps to

Step 1 - Log In Your Name:____________________________

1. You can access your AET account anytime from any computer with Internet. Go to http://www.theaet.com, and click Sign In “Student”
