Council of Catholic Women
Join us the third Tuesday of each month for Mass at 7:00 P.M., followed by a 7:30 P.M. meeting and light refreshments.
Are you registered in the parish? Please do not take for granted that you are registered in the parish just because you attend mass here. If we have no record of your parish membership it could be quite embarrassing to us, or to you or your family, when some-one wishes to make wedding plans, have a baby baptized, or if you have been asked to act as a sponsor for baptism or confirmation. Please fill out a census form, which is located at the entrances of the Multi Celebrational Building (MCB), and mail it to the parish office.
Baptism
Baptisms are celebrated on Sunday after the 12:00 Noon Mass. Parents must be registered and active members of the parish for at least three months. No confirmed dates are given before approval by the pastor. Contact the parish office two months in advance. Godparents must be confirmed, practicing, Roman Catholics and must obtain a sponsor certificate from their parish. In order to avoid disappointments, do not book travel plans with family, Godparents, etc. until a confirmed date has been assigned through the parish office (561) 966-8878.
Marriages
Notify the parish office at least four months in advance.
Ministrations to the Sick
We appreciate knowing when a parishioner is in the hospital or homebound. Please call the parish office.
The Shaker hymn describes a circular journey from innocence to innocence with characteristic brevity:
'Tis the gift to be simple, 'tis the gift to be free.
'Tis the gift to come down where we ought to be.
This journey is easier sung about than done. It takes humility and time to recover a second innocence. Titles, positions of honor, money, and power are not requirements of the kingdom of God. Jesus says and demonstrates in today's Gospel that members of God's kingdom must hold in their embrace the most inconsequential of persons, for that person is identified with Jesus. This attitude ran counter to the intuition of the world of Jesus' time, as it does in ours.
The simplicity set forth by Jesus requires the shedding of unnecessary, unimportant, false, and burdensome attachments that earthly power demands. Membership in the Kingdom is light enough to put a song in our heart.
The Lord upholds my life - Psalm 54
‘TIS THE GIFT TO BE SIMPLE

Thank you in advance for your generosity.
Please note: The first row of chairs are reserved for those who are handicapped. The celebrant of the mass should be the last to enter the church and the first to leave.
Our advertisers subsidize the cost of our weekly bulletin, please patronize them and tell them you saw their ad.
Thank you in advance for your generosity, and for your continued support of Saint Matthew Catholic Church.
2016 Missalette Sponsorship “HEADS UP”: The Cornerstone Committee will soon be accepting your “sponsorships” for each of the Liturgical Year 2016 Missalettes used at Mass in the MCB. Watch for a further announcement later this month, along with an application form which will be included in the Bulletin. In return for your donation, individuals or businesses can have their inscription placed on a 3.33” x 4” label on the front of a Missalette. These labels will remain on the front cover of the Missalette for the entire 2016 Liturgical Year and are designed to memorialize individuals, family events, or express your special thoughts. They can also be used to advertise businesses, or simply to show support of our Parish and its continuing growth and progress. Begin thinking and planning now about how to memorialize your loved ones.
2015 Diocesan Services Appeal
We are currently short by $23,986.67 for our 2015 Diocesan Services Appeal goal of $126,000. The programs and services supported by the DSA are examples of what truly makes us, “A Family of Faith in Service to Others”. Please keep in mind, if our yearly goal is not met through donations, funds must come out of St. Matthew Church’s operating budget. Please give as often as your means will allow.
For additional information on the DSA, including program allocations, visit the diocesan website at http://www.diocesepb.org/
Thank you for your continued generosity.

Leave a Lasting Legacy Remember St. Matthew Church in your Will
A flexible and popular method of achieving your charitable goals and building a legacy is to create a bequest through your will, or name St. Matthew Catholic Church as beneficiary of a retirement plan. The most common is an unrestricted bequest for the general purpose of St. Matthew Church. This allows the Church to use your gift wherever it is most needed. However, if there is a particular area you wish to support we will work with you.
Bequest typically takes one of the following forms:
† A specified dollar amount.
† Specific assets, such as securities, real estate, or tangible personal property.
† Retirement account assets, consisting of any benefits remaining in your retirement plans.
† A residuary bequest, in which St. Matthew receives all or a percentage of the remainder of your estate after all other obligations are met.
† A contingent bequest, in which St. Matthew becomes beneficiary only if the named beneficiary is unable to accept the bequest.
† An existing will or trust can be amended to make a gift without rewriting the entire document. Your attorney can prepare a simple document, called a codicil, which adds a new bequest while reaffirming the terms of your will. Similarly, an attorney can prepare an amendment to a revocable trust to add St. Matthew as a beneficiary. If you have included St. Matthew Catholic Church in your plans (or intend to), please let us know. We will handle all communications with the utmost care and confidentiality.
For more information, please call the parish office at (561) 966-8878.
We encourage you to pray the following prayer each day leading up to the event - alone or together with your family members.

World Meeting of Families Prayer
God and Father of us all, in Jesus, your Son and our Savior,
you have made us your sons and daughters in the family of the Church.
May your grace and love help our families in every part of the world
be united to one another in fidelity to the Gospel.
May the example of the Holy Family, with the aid of your Holy Spirit,
guide all families, especially those most troubled, to be homes of communion
and prayer and to always seek your truth and live in your love.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Jesus, Mary and Joseph, pray for us!
