St. Mary’s School – Holy Cow! St. Mary’s
Fourth Grade Buys a Heifer!! ________________________________________________________________________________________
In this season of giving, the fourth graders in Mrs. Arianne Wong’s class at St. Mary Catholic Community
School in Crown Point decided to give gifts that would help spread hope, peace, joy, and love. Therefore,
they began bringing in their own money to put toward the purchase of an “Advent Animal.” By donating
through Heifer International, a gift can be given which will provide food and income to last for years!
The students collectively brought in $250 in two weeks. With Heifer International offering a matching
donation incentive, the fourth graders were thrilled to find out they could afford to buy a heifer. This
female cow will provide up to four gallons of milk a day which is enough for a family to drink, share with
neighbors, and sell at the market. Also, because the heifer will have offspring, our gift will be one that
keeps on giving.
St. Mary Catholic Community School in Crown Point offers grade levels Junior Pre-Kindergarten (for
